Weekend Warrior 10/12/12

by Jordan LaPorte on Oct 12, 2012 at 02:00 PM

There were some great games released this week, so we’ll be spending the weekend trying to split our time between as many of them as possible. It’s not all about the new releases though, as a few older games will be getting some weekend lovin' as well.

Joe Juba: I downloaded the Mechromancer DLC for Borderlands 2 this week, so I need to return to Pandora and see how she works. I'm not enjoying playing as Zero as much as I hoped, so maybe a change in character can reignite my interest. I also started the last Professor Layton game recently, so I'll be solving some brain-bending puzzles at some point, too.

Tim Turi: Just like every other weekend, the world needs saving. This time it’s aliens. I just lost one of my long-time veteran soldiers and I’m miserably behind on satellite production, so it looks like I’ll be playing XCOM. If I free up some time from the game I hope to dig into Dishonored. Maybe I’ll have some beers and want to play Banjo Kazooie or Resident Evil 6. Who knows?

Jeff Marchiafava: This weekend I’ll be spending most of my gaming time sweating over the lives of my XCOM soldiers. Half of my beloved soldiers were on death’s door in the last mission I played, and I’m sure at least a couple of them won’t make it through the weekend. The things we do in the name of whooping alien ass.

Kyle Hilliard: My sister is in town visiting, the baby has officially aged a full year, and she took her first steps (the baby, not the sister), so we’re celebrating this weekend with video games and some plain old hanging out. I’m thinking Left 4 Dead, Dance Central 3, and maybe some Halo: Combat Evolved if Ben Hanson is up for it.

Ben Hanson: This weekend I hope to find time to continue my adventures with XCOM. I love the game, but I don’t think I even need to tell you that. Everybody loves XCOM. Give it a shot if you are hesitant, there are demos out there. Other than XCOM I might continue playing Resident Evil 6, just to throw some mindless shooting into the mix.

Mike Mahardy: As much as I love Dishonored, XCOM is occupying almost all of my free time. I have satellites over every country that hasn’t left the XCOM project and my soldiers are all getting their due experience. When things invariably go wrong in that game, I’ll hop back into my stealth playthrough of Dishonored. The city of Dunwall is one of the more memorable settings I’ve played in, and I love how two hours can fly by on a mission before I even realize it.

Jordan LaPorte: This weekend I am hoping to get my hands on XCOM, which I haven’t had the chance to play yet. I’m also borrowing Resident Evil 6 from Mike, so we’ll see how that goes. For some reason I recently had the urge to play through DOOM II and Abe’s Exoddus again, so I’ll be continuing to play those on Steam as well.
