The lights are on
You've already read our review of Resident Evil 6, but here's a closer look at the second chapter of Jake Muller's campaign. Watch Jake, the melee dynamo, plow through dudes with his fists and comically slide down an icy mountain pass.
Ben Reeves and Andrew Reiner join in on the video preview to share their differing impressions on the game. Be sure to stop by tomorrow to check out our livestream of Resident Evil 6, complete with awesome prizes.

Cant wait to get the game, looks awesome, thanks for the look guys, and thanks tim for giving the game a chance.
Game still looks great, and will still pick it up. Why is RE6 getting so much attention when this always happens? Do people who follow reviews to heart still have their mother pick out what looks best on them?
Like Tim, I'm super-stoked about Jake's melee abilities (it also helps that he's the son of my favorite RE character of all time, Albert Wesker). I'm sure I'll like RE6, the camera didn't really bother me in the demos and I can live with cheesy dialogue and plot/story elements if the gameplay holds up and, from what I've seen, the gameplay in RE6 looks super fun.
This looks like a steaming pile of garbage
I enjoyed the demo myself, so I think I'll like the game.
That said, I was already planing to wait till it got cheaper, even before all these different reviews rolled in.
I never played a Resident Evil game until the demo for this released on Xbox Live. I really did not like it and I have always heard people talking about Resident Evil games like they are the best. I was extremely disappointed with it and this Test Chamber didn't help at all. Resident Evil Suck really bad. It looks super low quality; not very well made at all.
I'm not a huge Resident Evil fan, but the latest entries in the series seem to be a large step back from the first few games. RE 6 looks like a third-person action game with Resident Evil characters in it. They're nothing like the original survivor horror games.
I think the melee shown in this video is downright ridiculous. Since when does anyone try to fist-fight zombies? It just looks dumb.
I'm still on the fence (and it hurts). I enjoyed the demo, but it doesn't feel like a Resident Evil game. To me, Resident Evil should be about fear and survival. Though the series did start to teeter towards action in Resident Evil 4, the player was still all alone and had to conserve ammo, plus it had a creepy atmosphere and legitimately scared me at points. (I nearly had a heart attack with the Regenerator in the jail cell.) But as I said, I'm still thinking about it.
Man, Reiner's down on a game in Test Chamber? Now you know it's serious.
Great episode of Test Chamber. It's been weird and interesting seeing so many mixed reviews on the game. From everything I've seen, including this Test Chamber, I still think the game looks pretty good, but not the blockbuster I was hoping. I still plan to get it and will reserve my judgement until I play through most of it.
Sad to hear how polarizing this game is. I want it to be good, but some of the design decisions just grind me the wrong way...
I've never played a Resident Evil game. With this gameplay footage I can see the appeal but this game simply isn't for me due to the constant action and repetitive level design. With all of the upcoming games this fall, Test Chamber will be a big help in deciding what games I'll actually enjoy when the game is pared down to its gameplay.
I did not like what I played of the public demo and this video doesn't do the game justice. Its just a totally different game with action and explosions. I honestly would pray for the developers to bring back tank controls and fixed camera angles. I'll give it a rent tomorrow, see if I can get back into it.
This games looks a bit messy. Also, the camera was a bit nauseating, though sometimes that only happens when I am not in control of the game and someone else is playing.
Well, I'll be getting this tomorrow and I hope I enjoy it, but what I've seen so far mostly confuses me. I'd understand if they wanted to make the series more action-oriented with tougher enemies, but they don't seem to give you enough ammo to really compete against them. I'd understand them wanting to make the series more strategic and really make you worried about making your shots count, but focusing your fire on a weak spot to efficiently kill or disable the enemy often only makes them stronger, at which point you no longer have enough ammo. While I think that going back to the prerendered backgrounds and shambly controls of the oldest games in the series would be a pointlessly severe regression, they should develop a shooting system that doesn't actively punish the player. Modernity doesn't have to suck, while going back to the way things were a decade ago doesn't permit improvement.
A lot of people seem glad that RE6 isn't turning out all rosy because it justifies their view that the series has gone to hell. I just want the game to be good. Shouldn't we all just want good games, even if they're not what we're accustomed to? A "real Resident Evil game" is whatever Capcom decides to label that. The best a "real fan" can do is adapt and try to enjoy what the series is now, not hope that each new game that isn't like the old ones is terrible and feel the warmth of self-rightousness when that turns out to be the case.
I want it to be good. They are just taking it in the wrong direction. Just another generic shooter
first time i've said this about an RE game, but I'll pass.
