Weekend Warrior 9/28/12

by Mike Mahardy on Sep 28, 2012 at 02:00 PM

Borderlands 2 is still taking up a lot of our time, but that doesn’t mean we can’t throw a few other games into the mix. Advanced copies of Resident Evil 6, unborn babies, and already-born babies will also demand some time this weekend.

Tim Turi: This weekend I hope to keep plugging away at my playthrough of Borderlands 2 as Zer0. Blasting idiots with a crazy powerful shotgun and stabbing them in the back is fun, but I’m afraid I’ll get sucked into Super Hexagon again. Then there’s also that copy of Resident Evil 6 I got my hands on early…

Jeff Cork: I’ve been neglecting Borderlands 2, so I’m going to try to make up for it with as many marathon sessions as I can squeeze into the weekend. Dishes will pile up! Lawns will grow to shameful lengths! Children will cry because their father isn’t acknowledging their presence! In short, it will be glorious and kids are resilient.

Ben Hanson: I realized last night that I don't enjoy playing Borderlands 2 by myself, so I'm going to round up some friends at a scheduled time and keep exploring Pandora. Other than that, I'll most likely continue to play Pokemon White 2 while staring at Final Fantasy IV for the DS. I like the DS port of IV, but it's a slightly more intimidating RPG experience than the sweet caress of a Pokemon game. Have a good weekend!

Jason Pfitzer: This weekend I'm swinging by Aamodt's Apple Orchard, in Stillwater, MN. Hoping to really stock up on Honeycrisp and Sweet Tango apples before they're out of season. Also, my new GeForce GTX 660 graphics card arrives today in the mail, along with 16 gigabytes of RAM. I will be gaming all weekend using Steam's new Big Picture Mode on my television.

Jeff Marchifava: This weekend I’ll be playing more Borderlands. No, not Borderlands 2 – Bryan, Cork, and I are still trying to finish up the DLC from the first game. At this point we’re continuing on out of sheer stubbornness. When we’re not shooting Claptraps, I’ll also probably sneak in some time with the Borderlands 2, and possibly tackle The Walking Dead episode 3.

Kimberley Wallace: I’m heading back home to Chicago this weekend for my sister-in-law’s baby shower. I still can’t believe I’m going to be an aunt in about a month! I probably won’t get too much gaming in, but I plan to do another run of 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors in anticipation of the upcoming sequel - Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward.

O’Dell Harmon: Between doing laundry, grocery shopping, and buying winter clothes I plan on finishing what I have left of Mark of the Ninja and Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance. Saturday I plan on going to the Mall of America to see what all the hype is about and if I am not in debt by then I will probably go download Jet Set Radio on my PS3 and go on a nostalgia trip.

Mike Mahardy: In preparation for the release of Resident Evil 6 on Tuesday, I’ll be playing through the HD version of Resident Evil 4. Odds are I won’t stop until I finish it, but once I do I’ll be returning to Pandora with my Commando and finishing up my playthrough of Chrono Trigger. Variety is the spice of weekends.

Jordan LaPorte: This weekend I will be splitting my time between finishing Darksiders II and finally experiencing the insane weirdness of Tokyo Jungle. Outside of gaming I will be constantly checking for updates about the NHL labor talks hoping that something good actually comes out of them for a change. I might try to see Dredd 3D as well, I’ve heard some surprisingly good things about it since its release.
