Discussing The Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow Trilogy

MercurySteam didn't just create the first worthwhile 3D Castlevania game with 2010's Lords of Shadow, they started a whole trilogy. With the 3DS's Mirror of Fate and Lords of Shadow 2 on the spooky, moonlit horizon, Matt Miller and I discuss the trilogy and the future of the franchise.

In the video below, I take advantage of the fact that Miller just recently finished Lords of Shadow, pulling him into a conversation about the series' future, what it might be like to play as Dracula, and more.

  • Castlevania LoS was a pretty good game/exsperience... im deffently gonna pick up,the next installment of this franchise.

  • While I'm kinda bummed I won't get to play Mirror of Fate (no 3DS and no money to buy one), LoS2 looks like it's gonna be a pretty rocking adventure. As a big fan of the first game, I can't wait.

  • I watched my friend play the first one and that looks cool, and the 3DS one looks like it will be good too. And I think the sequel will be good too so I think it would a nice trilogy.

  • Totally TIm. I will think about it.

  • Awesome video. Cannot wait for these games to release.

  • Totally getting LOS 2 on PS3 but the other game for the 3DS will be transparent for me. I will not buy a 3DS just to play that game.

  • This actually just made me realize i never finished the first LoS. Guess ill need to get that done.

  • Lots of interesting points brought up, good convo

  • With all the groaning one would think this whole concept of throwing the handheld market a bone was new to the market, let alone the series. Nintendo handhelds are essentially the home of many Castlevania entries (Circle of the Moon, Dawn of Sorrow, Aria of Dissonance, Portrait of Ruin, Order of Ecclesia, etc...). And if you want to play the continuity card just look at the God of War and Metal Gear Solid. Yeah, it sucks if you do not get a chance to play it (hardly know if I will myself), but its hardly a cause for lashing at Mercury Steam or the 3DS.

Mirrors of Fate in and of itself may not be a 3DS killer app, but the bevy of other great 3DS titles may make my purchasing of this an inevitability. If they follow usual game conventions LoS"2" will be the next story heavy hitter (being an actual numbered sequel) where as the portable iteration will give more insight.
  • i still have not finished lord or shadows, but it would be good if they kept they would keep the storyline going

  • I own LoS for ps3. Now like most ppl n this world I am broke as hell. Unfortunately I don't own a 3DS nor can i afford 1. In Oct, Resident Evil 6 will b relased n I have it preordered. Also, Black Ops 2 is coming, which I'm pre-ordering. This new Castlevania for 3DS actually looks really sweet. I honestly would love to play it BUT the whole being broke thing.. I hope that if the game is a success they will release this new LoS on another counsol (ps3 r maybe even ps vita). Game really looks sweet so if u have a 3DS n u like Castlevania, check it out n let me no how it is.

  • im definitly getting lords of shadow 2 for wii u and the 3ds one as well

  • wat i heard that konami is planning on making lords of shadow 2 wii u version to have more content and stuff then the 360 and ps3 versions thats wat they said

  • I day one'd the first LoS and loved it. Playing it on higher difficulties really forces you to learn the combat system well. Hoping these next two games will be up to par w/ it.

  • I LOVED L.O.S and honestly to move it to a whole new system is just one more disappointment in my life...

Dear game goblins...WE the BUYERS are not MADE of MONEY!!! PICK a STINKING system and STICK TO IT...OR ELSE put it on ALL systems!!! SHEESH I MEAN friggan really.

  • I've never played a castlevania games except for a gameboy one a *long* time ago. What is the best way of experiencing this franchise? given that I can have every major nintendo console and handheld.
  • I cannot wait for LOS2. Lords of Shadow had one of the most satisfying endings to a game that I've experienced in a while.
