Moments: Kratos Dismantles The Colossus Of Rhodes

by Jeff Cork on Jul 05, 2012 at 05:52 AM

The God of War series isn't exactly known for being subtle or holding back on spectacle. God of War II blasted out of the gates with one of the most memorable boss encounters from the PS2 era – and that was only the beginning.

In the opener, Kratos faces off against the Colossus of Rhodes. The boss is absolutely massive, and Kratos systematically takes it apart piece by piece. It's not a one-off battle, either. The Colossus pops up in the background, smashing through walls throughout the level as it attempts to crush Kratos in its bronze hands. By the time it's over, the Ghost of Sparta has sliced huge gashes along its cheeks and even dismantled it from the inside.

The word "epic" is overused these days, but we can't think of a better description for God of War II's opening fight. If you haven't seen it before, or it's been a while, check out our Replay of the encounter below.
