The lights are on
Before you yell "Hey, you guys already did a Replay of Max Payne!" at your computer screen, I implore you to take a look at the screen above. That is definitely not the original Max Payne. No, it's actually the Game Boy Advance version of the game. But don't write off this less-powerful version of the game yet; check out our surprising Replay first.
Join Matt Helgeson, Andrew Reiner, Kyle Hilliard, and myself as we plug in another chapter of gaming's biggest sad sack. The isometric view may be a bit clunky at times, but you'll be shocked by how convincing the Bullet Time effect looks.

Email the author Tim Turi, or follow on Twitter, and Game Informer.
do a replay for Giants: Citizen Kabuto please!
I never played the GBA port of Max Payne but from the looks of it the developer did a great job bringing the console experience to handheld. The bit you played followed the original to a tee. Planet of the Apes, on the other hand, was just atrocious.
GI FAV SITE !!!!
Nice to finally see handheld replays. I'd like to see Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow and Oracle of Ages/Seasons plz.
Blackthorn was the first thing I thought of when I saw Heston move. You guys should do a super replay of that. That game was awesome.
Matt referencing Just for Men, Tim referencing the Cereal man walk...
Oh, Weinerless Steve, what have you been up to?
YAY Flashback reference!!! Conrad was the man. Anybody who thinks otherwise is a communist. O.o
I was surprised Max Payne GBA looked alright, but that Roulette. Tim is gonna have nightmares.
It wasn't until now that I noticed how confusing that last season of Rosanne was. Thanks alot guys. No, really.... Thanks.
I had this!
I definitely feel like I missed out on the whole GBA thing (well, except for that second game).
Cocaine? I'll stick to the depressants.
When is the next super readplay??????
It has been far too long since Eagle Eye Helgeson has been on Replay. Welcome back, sir.
My nephew also opens doors by ramming them, just like max!
Awesome, when is the nest super replay?
Handheld super replay needs golden sun 1&2!
Well finally, a good use for the GBA adapter for the GC =). The bullet-time came off surprisingly well, but the getting shot from off screen would annoy the heck out of me. A "hidden gem" of the GBA area was this game called "Ninja Five-O". It took a big lead from Bionic Commando with the use of a grappling hook to platform between levels but it was just an awesome game too.
Awesome replay! I remember I played quite a bit of Max Payne GBA. And Planet of the Apes, wow. But your commentary Tim made it all the more funny.
lol the roll and jump from Planet of the Apes reminded me of Oddworld: Abe's Oddsey or Exodus
