The lights are on
If you thought Yoda being a part of Soul Calibur's roster was a strange crossover, wait until you see Nintendo's happy-go-lucky Pokémon invade feudal Japan. Wait... Is it even Japan? Historical figure Oda Nobunaga is in the game. He's apparently trying to destroy the Pokémon-infested Ransei region. Why? I have no idea. The one thing I do know: Pokémon conquest is weird. Ben Hanson, Kyle Hilliard, and intern Ali Rapp all try to figure out if this game's story is canon. They seriously talk about this, folks. And it feels like they discuss it for hours! This discussion becomes so intense that Kyle routinely stops playing the game to get his points across. I don't think I need to say it, but this is easily the nerdiest Test Chamber episode yet. Ben and Ali venture down a path of Pokémon admiration that I wish I never heard. I no longer respect either of them. Do yourself a favor, watch this episode without volume.

I wanted to see how this game plays, thanks.
This was a hilarious episode! The game itself looks pretty cool actually. Oh, and there was a Nobunaga's Ambition that came out on the NES as well as the SNES I believe. It was a strategy game from KOEI like Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
I gotta say, this was a really good episode of Test Chamber, and I'm not even a big Pokemon fan. I think Ben should be on a lot more of these (including Replay); I think it's impossible to listen to him and not be in a good mood. It's also refreshing to hear a female voice as well.
My hats off to you all!
OK, so I hate games where there is no world to travel in and it's just push button-ing from one location to another. I also HATE grid-based combat. But goddamit, this is Pokemon, and I want it SO BAD after watching this. Going to have to figure out a way to fit this into my budget with both Heroes of Ruin and Kingdom Hearts coming up soon. Also, this video reminded me that I need to purchase Pokemon Black/White ASAP because I am falling behind. AAAAAHHHH!!!
Wasn't Nobunaga also the bad guy in the Onimusha games?
More ali Please
This was probably one of the more awkward and entertaining Test Chambers so far. Andy Reiner is always great on these videos, Ben Hansom had a great Poke-rapor with Ali Rapp, and Kyle Hilliard was awkward as ever. Think game seemed kindof interesting, but I enjoyed all of the Poke positing of the Pokeverse.
i understood nothing about what was going on, yet i found it entertaining in a horrific 'i can't believe they know so much about this' kind of way. great introduction article reiner, i had to watch after reading that.
as a side note, nobunaga's ambition on NES was a fantastic game; it gave birth to my love of strategy games.
-Wow, I didn't even realize Ali was a girl until she started talking. Man, we gotta stick all three interns on the next Super Replay.
-I've got a simple answer for why Pokemon exist in feudal Japan: Celibi. It can use time travel, and teleported all Pokemon/ Poke-technology back to the past. See? Time travel explains all things. Just like Final Fantasy XIII-2.
-Jeez, Reiner is just losing his mind, both about the Pokemon World, and Kyle's pacing of the game.
-Yes, this is the episode Meowth learned how to speak English, and it was because of a female Meowth. www.dailymotion.com/.../xllza6_pocket-monsters-072-go-west-young-meowth_webcam
-Heck, I was satisfied with Pokemon Stadium as a 3D pokemon game. Granted, it was conceptually just an epilogue to the GB games rather than a traditional RPG, but it was still 3D pokemon battles. Awesome!
-She knows her Pokemon episodes and speaks Japanese? Man, Ali's good.
-Did Reiner trade roles with Joe Juba or something? What a jerk! He was whining that whole episode.
Oh What's Happening?!?!?!?!? HAHAHAHAHA
why can't I change video quality >.<
Nintendo...what have you done? This is not the Pokemon i grew up with! Cudos to them for trying something new, but it looks like a step in the wrong direction. Then again, I haven't experienced the new combat system.
My head hurts just listening to this. They should have focused more on the game, then saved the talk for another video or podcast.
Very sorry reiner, very sorry.
