Epic Makes The Case For Baird In Gears Of War: Judgment

When fans first heard that the next Gears of War game was going to be a prequel, many assumed that players would tackle the locust hordes as a young Marcus Fenix or Dom. Epic Games and People Can Fly decided to throw gamers a curveball by having the next game in the series star the wise-cracking Damon Baird, a character that was in the original trilogy but never thrown into the spotlight. Watch the video to learn more about Baird, the decision to highlight him, and the story of Judgment from Cliff Bleszinski, Rod Fergusson, and creative director Adrien Chmielarz.

  • I love Gears of War but Baird is my least favorite character. I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't like Baird. Not sure what I think about this new game....
  • Oh yeah!!! Inch forward from chest high wall to chest high wall part 0.

Almost forgot, with a turret sequence in between sometimes.
  • This franchise hasnt a single great character, so it doesnt matter, who they choose.
  • Needs to star Cole Train.
  • chicks dig the baird

  • I always liked Baird. Theres no way i'd get this if it starred Cole Train. He's good in small doses but that part in Gears 3 when you had to play as cole for an hour was just dreadful...
  • BAIRD!!!!!!!
  • Well don't care for Baird. But if the gameplays good and the stories Epic enough I'll be satisfied.

  • hey, I don't need convincing, baird is awesome.

  • Baird!!!!!

  • The cole train would have ran over Baird
  • I really like the mix of personalities in Kilo squad.  Baird is the snarky yet smart arse, Cole brings his bravado (and with the potential to get to know him a bit more personally), Garron is fresh out of the 'bad guy' camp of the Pendulum Wars which gives him an opposing perspective as he is now working with those soldiers he used to kill, and Sofia is snooty with her by-the-book attitude.  She is particularly interesting as she is keen on ratting out the squad's wild behaviour, and due to her minimal rank (and from a prestigious military academy too) one has to think that she's also in it for brownie points from a thankful superior.

  • Looking into Baird's past could be really interesting. I just hope having another studio work on the franchise doesn't take away any of the magic.
  • Cliff is wearing that same shirt as in the other videos. I guess GI made all these videos on the same day.
  • Cuz Baird's awesome. Duh.

  • I'm actually liking this focus, he and Cole had the biggest personalities out of delta squad. I just hope those two don't lose their hilarious comedy duo. One of my favorite parts in gow1 Dom-"I could smell you two a mile away." B-"You get down here see how much you like it, there's room for one more, it's a f*cking party down here." lol everytime.
  • Throughout the Gears of War series, I have recognized that Baird is a sarcastic, witty, clever, and likeable (at least to the player) character. However, he never clicked with me. His reluctance to follow orders and such always irked me. Said reluctance is actually the catalyst for the game, which I will still buy because it's Gears, but Baird is not my favorite COG.
  • No explanation needed. I love Baird.

  • Give him the Baird
