I have to disagree with a lot of the sentiment towards this game. I am almost done with it and frankly I am kind of relieved. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of things about it but I think Reiners score of a 9.25 is on the high side. The highest I would go would be an 8.5.

The set pieces and gameplay are extremely repetitive. The only difficulty on offer feels egregiously cheap at times. Ammo is ridiculously scarce at points. The art direction is EXTREMELY over stylized and seizure inducing and Max's incessant narration is too campy and gets old really fast.

The multiplayer has only reminded me why I don't like 3rd person multiplayer shooters. When compared to an FPS MP shooter it feels clunky and unrewarding.

Love it!  The gameplay looks fun as hell!  The graphics look pretty smooth too.

Yesterday Hitman, today Max Payne, tmr Diablo?

Max Payne 3 has been getting surprisingly mixed reviews.  Game Informer, GameSpot, and IGN all loved it, but Giant Bomb wasn't too crazy about it and GameTrailers really ravaged it in their review.  

Nonetheless, it looks great to me and I'll be picking it up along with Diablo III in a few hours.  I think I'm really going to love Max Payne, just like I loved L.A. Noire.

rockstar's game make me really wanna be a game designer

I got this at the midnight launch on Monday, it was my first midnight launch. I pretty much haven't stopped playing it since

Video is showing, all I'm getting is a small square with an orange dot in the middle.

I would say judging by the bottle type that is a bourbon not a scotch. Looks like a Jack bottle, which although it would say bourbon on it, I would call a "tennessee whiskey" before a bourbon. Either way, not scotch. Sorry Tim. All fifths of scotch I have seen are in taller skinney bottles. Except for a few standouts that have a more distint shape, like Tullamore Dew, which looks similar to the Jack bottle except it is narrower on the side. Jack is square like in the vid. Anyway... now back to test chamber! Next time just say whisky :)

Edit: On closer inspection, the bottle says KONG as the brand and has a picture of what I am assuming is King Kongs face above the brand name. Now I'm wondering if this is a reference to a vintage 1976 Jim Beam King Kong decanter, which was just a bust of King Kong you could pour drinks out of. If you could reach out to Rockstar for a comment that would be great! ;)

Does Max have to jump every time he goes into bullet time? Seems kinda gratuitous/superfluous. Looks really stupid if the player goes to dive and dives into a wall and looks like a dunce. "I loook cooooooooooolllll...oh, damn, who put that wall therrrreeeeee..."

Loving the game so far. I like how you can rotate the camera around Max when the game is paused. It's a subtle nod to the previous games, but fans will notice.

Just perfect.

Is anyone having issues with the video player? It's not showing up...Any ideas how to troubleshoot it? thx.

One phrase kept coming up when I watched this, Oh S***!!!, this looks amazing. I can't wait to own this.

I really like test chamber. This is better than a review. I get to see some actual gameplay with unscripted reactions from some gamers who's job it is to work with games, and hear some dialogue about the game and interesting tidbits, etc. I was a little sketchy on this game until I watched this, now I can see it is a winner. Thanks Reiner and friends!!

We've been waiting almost a decade for this and it looks absolutely amazing. This far surpasses every expectation I had for this game. I'm throwing cold hard cash down as soon as I possibly can.

Wow, this looks fantastic.  Now, just gotta finish the first two games.

After Diablo.

After seeing this, I'm genuinely interested in this game and I might pick it up after I get burned out on Diablo.
