Test Chamber – The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is an amazing comic book series, a popular television show (although I don't like it), and now an enthralling, episodic video game adventure. Ben Reeves, Ben Hanson, and Jason "Ben" Oestreicher joined me for a look at the game's intense introductory moments. Although we yap over most of the story content, this video shows off the combat mechanics, conversation system, and environment interaction. All told, this a great glimpse at Telltale's suspenseful adaptation of Robert Kirkman's work.

Sit back, enjoy this video, and if you have the time on your hands, check out our Test Chamber hub for more episodes.

  • I'm really surprised. This looks great. I'll have to try it out.

  • I really enjoyed the game/episode!  I liked the pace and how it kept the spirit of TWD throughout the episode.  You guys picked a different direction once you killed the babysitter, that was cool!  I'll just say I chose the daylight instead of night time.  Thanks again for the TC!

  • Awesome! Another test chamber! However, I would love to see the next Super Replay... Anyways, I will be getting this game soon and it looks pretty awesome. The comic and show are drastically different, but both are solid experiences...

  • YOU DON'T LIKE THE WALKING DEAD?

Just kidding, I've never seen it.

*does best Benfeld impression* What's the deal with the dead walking?  They don't walk so much as lurch.  Ever notice how people don't use the word lurch?  It's as if they think they'll have their heads mistakenly blown off by a shotgun.

  • Nice episode.  I'm really intrigued by this and I haven't read the comics or watched the t.v. show.

  • I got it today and played all of it in about 2 hours and 30 mins it was great!

  • Absolutely loving Test Chamber. The amount of content that your pushing out is awesome. After I saw the prototype one I thought oh well time to wait a week but then this and Deep Black! And, most importantly, the videos have been very helpful with forming an opinion on the games especially Xenoblade.

P.S Tribes Ascend Coverage Please :D Would love to know GI's thoughts

  • looks good!

  • Test Chamber is an awesome feature! Anyone know when the other episodes are supposed to be released?
  • In my opinion, the whole cell-shading graphics are kinda crap. It's like the devs were aiming for good graphics and ran out of time or money.(I know it's supposed to look like a comic) It worked in Borderlands and works here but still looks lazy to me. The gameplay (or lack there of) was just enough to actually call it a game. It felt more like a point and click game or an interactive graphic novel. Though most of the dialog was kinda lame the story was quite gripping and left me wanting to watch/play more. I feel like it could have used a bit more time and polish. Overall, they did a good job and I'm excited to see what's in store for next month. 7/10
  • I'm the opposite of Mr. Reiner--I'm a big fan of the show, but have never read the comics and have no interest in them. I don't read comics. This game looks really good, especially for $5. I mean, how could you lose?
  • The PC version is perfect for this type of game. Crazy why anyone who has the option to choose PC or console would choose console for a game that has a cursor clearly appropriate for mouse controls. GI loves their 360. :)
  • This is a really cool game, they did a great job tying into the comic and the way the whole structure is set up is what episodic games were made for; it feels like a complete experience, but you can't wait for the next episode.  I was going to write a review, but you guys nailed it.  Same score and everything I would have given.

  • "A popular TV show (Although I don't like it)." The TV show is a stand-alone epic and in terms of a TV show it's better than most things airing these days. Mr. Andrew Reiner either is too elitistic regarding the comic books or his opinion is as lousy as this article. Just saying.
  • the comic is great and so is the show. this game however is a sad cash in cow. the game play mechanics are something out of am early a 1990's game. horrible and obviously running on a slapped together engine or an old old game engine. its a joke they are putting this crap out in mini game installments for 5 bucks a piece. save your money and time by not aggravating yourself with this nonsense and play zombie apocalypse. allot simpler better looking and most of all more fuuuuun!!!!
  • Hey Reiner, will you be doing a Test Chamber for every episode of The Walking Dead with the same cast?
  • Has anyone played this on a pc yet?  I've played the PS3 demo and i'm not sure I like the controls enough to get it there.  Steam isn't giving a demo option, but I want to know what it's like before I buy.  Any help would be nice.

  • Got this and am enjoying it, but its more interactive comic than game. What 'saves' it, at least for me, are the excellent characters and dialogue. Of course, that's what Walking Dead is supposed to be.

  • I love the comics and the show is pretty good! But I felt this game even for 5 bucks was lacking in alot of ways... maybe it's just me.. but I was very very unimpressed..the voice acting was good, but overall.. boring.. and not shocking at all.. what a waste of my 5 buck,, but thanks for the vid. Your shows always rock

  • nobody cares if you don't like the show.  fyi.
