The Completionist: The Secret Ending Of Fez

Maybe you've beaten Polytron's perspective-altering puzzler. But have you gathered every cube and collectible, and seen the true ending? Our video reveals the game's final secrets.

The Completionist exists to show off the game content most of us will never have the patience to reach, like our drive to find all the data fragments in Assassin's Creed Revelations or the full collection of Dragon Priest Masks in Skyrim.

Today, we unveil our Completionist run of Polytron's Fez. If you're anything like most Fez players, you managed to complete the game with most of the golden cube shards, and a smattering of anti-cubes. Maybe you've been a real trooper and gone back into NewGame+ to get some more anti-cubes. But Game Informer editor Kyle Hilliard took it all the way, uncovering every last secret of the game (even if even he admits to getting a little help along the way).

The ravings of a madman? Or Kyle Hilliard's Fez notes? You decide

Check out the video below to watch Kyle collect the final piece of the puzzle, witness the true ending of Fez, and discover the special prize awaiting players after total game completion. Finally, it should go without saying, but just so we're clear, this video is nothing but SPOILERS.

  • Is Fez really as good as people say it is? I ask as I'm tormented between The Walking Dead Episode 1, Fez, or Minecraft! Help me GI Online Community, you're my only hope!
  • FEZ 4EVZZ

  • Dam Matt Miller. Your voice is soothing.
  • Kyle Hilliard? I, are, can't, wait to watch this video.

  • Nice, though I can't imagine playing this game. The completionist part of my brain would clash with my lazy glands and give me a brain hemorrhage. Still, awesome game though, and thanks for having the patience to do all that work Kyle. Appreciate it. =D

Edit: Oh and your wife too. lol
  • wow.  i really liked this.

  • If you have a copy of Toy Story Mania for Wii in your vault. It should have 2 pair of those stereoscopic 3d glasses.

  • Sweet! I was wearing 3D glasses on my head while watching this and put them on when that scene came on. Pretty cool!

  • Metatron is the voice of god.

    This ending was very confusing.

  • Well, Fez has just pooped on my brain (in a good way, though. Ew). Also, I looked, but I couldn't find any red/blue 3-D glasses in my house! Agh!

  • Man, that was cool. I was thinking about going back and trying to 100% the game, but I knew I'd have to go online and look up a bunch of the solutions which kind of ruins the whole puzzle game experience so it was awesome to see this video. I just might cheat my through now to get the 3D glasses: I have a coulple pairs in my Friday the 13th 3-D DVD.
  • Looks pretty cool, I might check out this game... Phil Fish is a Dick though.

  • "The quick, brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" was a phrase used to teach typing.  Has typing (like talking) become innate?  Kids are banging on a keyboard before they can even read now!! Funny how fast things change sometimes.

Great job you & your wife did on the game!  I'd never have the patience to play through it.

  • Ahh, I don't want to watch this but I'm absolutely stuck.  31 cubes, 7 pieces, and 22 anti-cubes.  All of the treasure maps and artifacts found, and I have no clue what the "language" is yet.  I think I have a grasp on the math system but I'm not confident.  Where the hell are those last 2 pieces??

  • I probably shouldn't have watched this since I haven't even touched Fez yet, but now I'm interested. I'll have to check it out... eventually. That ending was cool.

  • there's actually 33 anti-cubes, completionist my ass!
