What We Want From Skyrim DLC

Skyrim is one of the biggest and most time-consuming single-player games of this generation, but that doesn't mean gamers aren't ready to return to Tamriel's snow-capped region for more adventures. Bethesda has a history of providing great DLC support for its epic RPGs, and we're guessing Skyrim will be no different. Here is what the Game Informer staff would like to see from Skyrim's post-release content.

New Guilds
We'd love to see a new guild or group storyline added into the mix – one that mixes many of the talents learned in earlier story threads. Each of the existing guilds offered its own fun style of interaction with the world, from the stealth of the Thieves Guild to the dark secrets behind the Companions. A new sect could delve into the fight against the Thalmor/Aldmeri Dominion, and their efforts to control Skyrim. It's one significant thread that remains open as the main story of Skyrim concludes: The Resistance Fighters.

After the uproar of the Skyrim Civil War, and the unrest caused by the return of the dragons, the entire land of the Nords is ripe for the picking by the elves of the Aldmeri Dominion. With ties to the Empire strained, there are many in Skyrim ready to work with the Thalmor, and the clever elves strike quickly to solidify power. Only the  Dragonborn has the power and acclaim needed to unite the disparate holds and guilds to fight back against the insidious infiltration and takeover.

Mixing the need for stealth and subterfuge in the early days of the Resistance, political conflict as the player tries to elicit help from outside sources like the Empire, and epic battles against the Thalmor aggressors, the Resistance Fighters storyline could be just what players need as an excuse to return to Skryim.

Co-op
Instead of offering unreliable AI companions, why not let us enlist the help of a friend? We'd much rather explore the vast countryside and battle through dangerous dungeons with a competent sidekick. Supporting co-op is no easy task, so the likelihood of this addition is weak, but just imagine the possibilities. We've already sunk countless hours into Skyrim, but allowing us to combine spells, perform simultaneous stealth kills, and take on the entire city watch with a friend would easily convince us to return.

Horse Combat
Once you've revealed sections of a map, running across the familiar countryside to your next destination sucks. You know what doesn't suck? Decapitating bandits from horseback along the way. Horse combat could reinvigorate otherwise boring sojourns and convince gamers to forgo fast travel to immerse themselves in the world.

  • New armor, weapons, etc. would be the top of my list. Followed closely by new guilds.
  • I remembered when this game came out, I had around 30 hours of work a week and still a full time student... and I spent every free time I had with this game. It's just that good

that being said, I want children. I want to be able to have children to raise so I can take them with me on hunts and maybe start my own army with them.. omg omg there's an idea! start a clan and wipe out towns!!
  • The Co-op inclusion would be cool , hopefully in ES6 or Fallout 4. Something cool might be combo spells with your coop partner or coop based dungeons with Gears of War type multiple paths. Dragon mounts would be cool but very unlikely.
  • Horse armor
  • The ones listed in the article in order: 1. Dragon mounts 2. Co-op (offline splitscreen and online) 3. Voice commands 4. More sovngarde 5. Horse combat 6. More locations
  • New guilds and skill trees would be great. I would be happy with an expansion like Shivering Isles. Big new location with main story and lots of side quests. Also everything in that video from DICE looked awesome.

  • Wait, weren't the Stormcloaks against the Thalmor? Don't flame me if I'm wrong, I haven't played Skyrim in awhile.
  • I would just like DLC that would fix my broken game. I have been putting off starting over in hopes that it would get fixed in a patch, but have not had any luck and at 60 hours in hate to start over. I had to start over on Oblivion also at 130 hours. You would think I would have learned better save management at that point, but I guess not.
  • Ah good old mods...they give me most of that and more!

Pretty much all of that minus guilds and dragon mounts. However we do have the ability to summon mini-dragons.
  • Horse Armor, Horse Armor.

  • Horse Armor, Horse Armor.

  • I'd like to see a storyline returning honor/reason to the Falmer. Their giant underground lair (I forget the name) was underused... Great list though!
  • no oness saying what we really need. which is actual challenge, after a certain point it gets real easy and it takes no effort to kill dragons. it would be nice if everything leveled up with you like in dead island

  • Please, no co-op, I beg of you! Horse combat would be kinda meh, I think I've rode my horse a total of 5 times in 140hrs of play. New guilds would be sweet though.
  • 1) Dragon Mounts 2) Horse Combat 3) New Locations 4) Spellcasting 5) New Guilds And, the one thing not on the list: A chance to destroy the Aldmeri Dominion. Those supercilious High Elves have it coming, and the Dovahkiin is just the one to serve up a generous portion of pain.

  • Also, horse armor DLC at a ridiculously high price. Or else glue factory DLC...

  • I know Bethesda is gonna make some amazing DLC but come on man can they hurry up and release it!! Its been almost 6 months since the game came out i mean I hate it when devs release DLC too fast but this long wait is killing me
  • I would really like a new area to explore similar to the Shivering Isles. New quest lines would be cool to.
