Assassin's Creed III's Historical Secrets

In a previous video, the team behind Assassin's Creed III discussed the perks of creating a game in a familiar setting. The history of the Revolutionary War is a topic taught in schools around the world, and Ubisoft Montreal is finally allowing players to experience it for themselves. While the wider gaming public might recall a few key figures and battles, Assassin's Creed III writers Corey May and Matt Turner wanted to share some of the lesser known tidbits from history that they may or may not be including in the story for the new game. Check out the video below to learn what stood out about the time period for the men in charge of crafting the narrative for Assassin's Creed III.

If you are a history or language nut, please check out the bonus portion of the interview on our YouTube channel where the writers talk about accurately portraying the accents of the time. Feel free to subscribe to our channel and help spread the word!

  • cool stuff, I love how intricately thought out everything is in assassins creed
  • I hope that this delivers as much of an impact to the series as ACII.

  • I hope Ubi cleans up the general plot of III. The plot so far is simply a jumbled mess.
  • I can't wait to see if you can kick the british butt in the battle of yorktown
  • this game is goin to be awesome
  • American History + AC = Greatness

  • This is one of the things I love about the series. They are very dedicated to putting you into an accurate historical world.
  • George Washington looks like a mad pimp in that picture. He's got that "Where mah bit*hes at?" pose going on.
  • Nice indeed...

  • il say this again...i learn more history in assassins creed than in school. i learned new things in this vid except for paul revere, my us history teacher told us that was not true so the staff is doing well in their research, good job.
  • Well their take on the history sounds awesome. I'm actually really excited for this release, even though I wasn't for last year's Revelations.
  • why don't they make the next assasssins creed spin off about the war of 1812.
  • "we are not supporting a political agenda" meanwhile in AC lore, the assassins support Al Gore for President because George W. Bush is a Templar agent and Assassins also overthrow the Russian government and establish the soviet union. Suuuuure ubisoft, suuuuuure
  • So, the founding fathers weren't perfect?? LIES, ALL LIES! THIS IS 'MERICA! WE ARE THE PERFECTIST PLACE ERVER! No, but seriously - this was some cool stuff. I'm excited to find out more in the game.
  • Fix that typo in the first sentence, or hire me to do it for you.
  • Well the history is interesting, but I'm still wondering how Ezio is factoring into this; last I heard, he was in Europe and somewhere in Turkey, if I remember properly. It's awfully hard to travel to the New World with 18th century travel methods, even with the money and power of the Templars. I suppose he could be part of the wave of French traders that went there in the years preceding the Seven Years War.
  • It's fun to find out about this stuff that we've got all wrong. :) lol

  • I'm still wondering how Native American history and culture will be shown in the game. If they're going this deep into the history of the original colonies, I hope they take equal time when researching Native American history. Also, since they're trying to accurately portray the accents of the time, does that mean that they will use actual Native American tribes' languages?
  • Washington wasnt the first president of America either, he was the first president under the CONSTITUTION. There was another president under the articles of confederation.
  • Wow interesting.
