The lights are on
Welcome to Replay’s second season! While it may seem arbitrary to end a season after two years and over 100 episodes, we’ve never been sticklers for making sense or following rules.
I came up with the idea of a second season over a year ago, but wanted to bat around ideas with the Replay crew regarding new elements to make sure Season 2 wasn’t just a logo change. While this is still the same Replay you know and love, we’re going to have more fun with the second segment. We enjoyed taking shorter looks at our Roulette games, but we wanted more creative freedom for the second segment. Dan, Tim and I have thrown around dozens of new ideas – ranging from the informative to the insane – and we like the idea of our viewers not knowing what the second segment will be. We’ll still do Roulette on occasion, but as you’ll see in the weeks ahead, you’ll frequently be met with surprises.
After viewing our lengthy look at GoldenEye 007, a highly requested title from our viewers and Replay cast, you’ll get the first taste of the type of things we can do with this second segment. It’s one of our wackier ideas, and there’s a chance it won’t return, but we’d like to create an air of unpredictability with each episode as we move forward.
The Replay crew extends big thanks to Game Informer alumni Thomas Blustin for his tireless work on creating Replay’s new logo, and Joe Kane of Joe Kane Design for the new animated intro. As always, this show wouldn’t be anything special without the video and audio expertise of Ben Hanson and Jason Oestreicher.
Enjoy the episode and please let us know what you think of our new direction in the comments section below!

bigger and blacker lol
awesome look at goldeneye but reiner was the only good thing about the second part
Welcome Season 2! I'd love to see Tom Clancy's Shadow Watch as a replay. It'd be a good warm up for X-Com.
I like the idea of a different 2nd half every time. Old man Reiner was really funny
"Black Ops 14: Bigger and Blacker" hahaha that one cracked me up
This was quite excellent. It'll take a bit of getting used to the new Replay intro since I've seen the original for 2 years but it's very sleek. Also, the animated intro was well done. Now don't get me wrong - I loved the look at Uncharted 2 and think this should be continued because anything is up for Replay that's been out for at least 2 years right? - but it was a bit crazy. There were a few laughs so it wasn't horrible by any means, but it was extremely unexpected. I can't wait to see what you guys have in store for us in the future.
Thanks for the "early" post Reiner! (It was after midnight Eastern time when I watched it - so still Saturday!).
Wow new roulette kind of cringe worthy. The best person ironically was Ben Reeve's performance. Sad that 2034 Tim still has the right frame of mind to make really bad puns.
I would say that Nightfire was at least a decent game, wasn't it? Not as great as goldeneye was, but I had tons of fun. Might just be my nostalgia but I loved playing that winter level with the skyrail. Doesn't hold up, but still have fond memories.
Reiner was great in the last segment. Awesome.
I like the newer game being played but I'm not a fan of the acting; your natural dialogue is much funnier.
HA! I liked the new second part you did hope there is more!
and I did not think that there would be a Cris Carter from The Ohio State University reference in replay!!!
"She played games with my heart..." Awesome Replay guys, very surprising, but I really enjoyed it.
Finally!! Season 2!! Honestly though, I never played Goldeneye. I've actually never seen any Bond movies and I dont ever plan too. So in that case, I have absolutely no nostalgia with this game. But I no that it is very beloved and I'm glad that the many who have asked for this have finally had their wish come true. As for the second part, it was..... odd. Reiner was great but "Reeverbot" didnt have too many lines and they werent excellently written (if they were written beforehand), Dan didnt sound too different except for a slightly higher pitched voice, and Tim was a little too basic of an idea and he kinda talked in his regular voice a little too often. I like the idea of playing games that aren't exactly old but aren't exactly new either and that would take a long time to really fit the age requirement of a regular replay. I think it would be great to go back and play the games that started this generation (Uncharted 1, Gears of War 1, LoZ:TP, MP: 3 Corruption, etc.) and kinda talk about how much better games have gotten even in such a short time. Anyway, it's great that season 2 has started and I hope that all the negative comments dont eventually shy you guys away from branching out on the second half. Also, I loved that this episode was an hour long. Was that just because it's the season premiere or will that be a recurring thing?
Why do I think Rick's mom lied and Dan suffered a Joe Juba related death?
Reeverbot for president. Second segment was okay. I really like the concept, the execution was done really well at points, but it definitely could use some tweaking should you guys bring it back. Either way though, I greatly appreciate this series, and the effort to keep it evolving and fresh. Can't wait to see what you guys have up your sleeve in the episodes to come.
I appreciate wanting to have creative license and I know things will probably never go back to normal because you guys need that change of pace to stay energized for the product, but I really miss Roulette. The whole reason I loved this series is because I get to relive old games and see ones I missed for the first time. And the great thing about Roulette was it gave me a chance to experience games that I never even knew existed. I can't really get that anywhere else in any meaningful fashion and I'm kind of upset you guys took that away from me.
