Listen To Game Informer's Favorite Songs of 2011

Many of the Game Informer staffers share similar passions to our readers outside of video games – whether that be films, television shows, books, comics, tabletop games, or watching clips of creepy people on YouTube. To round out our end of year coverage we decided it would be nice to share our favorite songs of the year with the community. You'll notice that all of these songs are from albums that came out in 2011. That essentially eliminates any selections from Dan Ryckert, who stubbornly believes rock 'n roll (and therefore all creative music) died in 1978. But as this Spotify playlist shows, he's dead wrong.

If you want to make a game of it, see if you can predict which editors selected which songs.

  • Dan, you need to be less stubborn and realize that rock n' roll did not die until 1989.
  • I don't want Spotify. Hope Skyrim is up there.
  • Hope there's some Primus fans at GI. Green Naugahyde is a great album!

  • Rock N Roll isn't dead until the bands who made it are. Aerosmith, AC/DC, and many other bands are still touring and making albums. Once they pass on, if no one pics of the epic torch of Rock N Roll, then it will be dead.
  • Time to listen to this! I'm hoping for something great on here, don't let me down!

Edit: Wtf is Spotify? Can't even wiki it. This better be worth it, GI.

Edit:That's a long playlist, full of... crap. Haha, joking, sort of. I don't know what most of these are, don't like the ones that I do know. Listening to Mastodon... Not sure if I should bother trying to listen to the rest of it. I mean, there's a lot, lol... Note to self, GI does not share my musical interests. If anyone knows any of the bands on there, is there anything good in them? I mean, heavier stuff? Some rock? Metal, maybe?

Edit: I'd like to see an update on this article showing who contributed which songs. I'm not a very good judge of musical taste, so outside of the couple who have said on Replay or somewhere what they like, I have no idea.

Edit: I'm concerned the only 'explicit' songs on here, are rap.
  • sweet this is pretty cool

  • Common Feat. Nas-Ghetto Dreams, and anything Rick Ross has put out.
  • Did the two Tyler, the Creator songs come from Matt Helgeson?
  • Not joining Facebook to listen to this. Sorry
  • I'm going to go out on a limb and guess Kato submitted Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.
  • I'm. Ot gonna make a spotify account. Forget it

  • Sorry but I'm not going to make another account to view something could be copy and pasted here in text form.
  • Anyway we can get a track list for this?! I don't want to join spotify nor do i have a facebook acccount....so its a no go for me. but i am interested in what songs are on the list.
  • Needs more dubstep and electronic music.
  • Is there anyway the tracklist can be typed out to view? I'm interested in Gameinformers' choices.

  • All I can say is, whoever likes Red Fang has *** good taste.
  • I was skeptical going off of what I've heard in replays and podcasts, but I was pleasantly surprised. A number of these are on my own playlists.

  • I apologize, I don't own a Spotify music account.

  • Can Dan post his playlist, this one was not very... errr, up my alley. I Want to hear Dan's, I think I have more in common with him, although '78 seems a bit early, I still agree.
  • Death Grips, Guillotine is one crazy song!
