Replay: Cold Fear

On most episodes of Replay, we pop in a game that one or all of us have some kind of memory of (be it fond or negative). Other times, we grab a random game in the vault that none of us have played (hell, that's how we discovered the now-legendary Overblood). This is one of those other times, as Reiner stumbled upon this PS2 survival horror title and decided to make it this week's Replay.

Will the game satisfy Tim's survival horror fandom? Find out as he plays through Cold Fear with Andrew Reiner, Phil Kollar, and myself.

Check out all our other Replays at our hub.

  • As I a kid I used to wake up excited for Saturday morning cartoons. Now as an adult every Saturday morning when I wake up I am so excited to see what game is receiving the Replay treatment. Thank you, Game Informer, for making it so I can relive that tiny feeling from my childhood.
  • This should be interesting. Cold Fear is one of the ones I've always wanted to check out but it got such bad press when it came out that I never felt like spending money on it.
  • Just in time for breakfast. Score.
  • I actually owned this game. It is quite literally a res evil 4 ripoff on a boat. This replay on a boat. however, this did get a release on xbox, which would the closest xbox owners would get to playing res evil 4 on their xbox

  • Never heard of Cold Fear, but yeah, it is like a mediocre Metal Gear Solid/Resident Evil. I'm in Northern Minnesota and I've never heard anyone call it Duck, Duck, Gray Duck. Always been Duck, Duck, Goose... Also, Psi-Ops was really funny. Throwing dudes around rooms and taking over their minds to murder their entire team and stuff. Doesn't get enough credit.
  • Why do we not see any RPG replays or super replays?
  • I'm sorry but this is dumb. I feel like Replay is for games we have all played to see if it still holds up, and roulette is for the oddball games that no one knows.
  • now i want a table :(
  • I love survival horror, one of my favorite genres. But for every classic there's at least 5 bad ones.

  • I created an account here simply to say that I am from minnesota and gre up playing Duck Duck Gray Duck
  • Cold Fear for the next Super Replay after Overblood 2.

EDIT: After the Roulette, I think Cold Winter would be a good SR choice, too.
  • I remember buying this game back in my PS2 days solely because the protagonist is in the Coast Guard, and there're no Coasties in games.  Also the things that happen on this boat happen at least twice a week in the Coast Guard.

  • Oh man I remember this game! I always thought it looked stupid, even as a kid.

Please do more Replays where you guys just grab something at random. I do love looking back on old games, but I think you should alternate between "nostalgia" and "what the hell is this?" every other week.

  • I remember this game. It's one of the few SH titles that has slipped through my grasp. A few friends of mine had informed I wasn't missing much. :)

Welp, off to the Replay!!! www.youtube.com/watch

  • Yes it's righty tighty lefty loosey.
  • Ooh boy this game's framerate is bad.

  • Ben Reeves' puppet show will haunt my dreams.

Edit: Awesome Dead Alive clip - great zombie movie :D
  • That roulette was great. "That's where we'll end that." "With Tim *** that table!"
  • I am the table!!!

  • Awesome replay guys. I can't remember if I rented this game and gave up shortly, or if I had a demo disk. I wanted to like this game so much being a big survival horror fan, but I just couldn't get into it. I do feel like I remember better scares happening. Anyway, entertaining as always, and btw Dead Alive (aka brain dead) should have been a tag, and that was funny too, as when you mentioned Ben doing a puppet show, I instantly thought of Meet the Feebles, so to see that clip later was a weird callback for me.
