Question Of The Month Reader Responses: Issue #224

A few months ago we asked readers what video game character they were going to dress as for Halloween. We printed a few of the costume choices in the latest issue of Game Informer, but here are some more choice ideas from your fellow readers.

A Ghost Makes Sense:

  • I will be dressing up as Ghost from Modern Warfare 2 for Halloween. I think Ghost is one of the best video game characters ever. It almost killed me to watch him get killed. I wonder how many people will actually recognize who I am. This Halloween is gonna be great.

    Matthew Prestage

A Costume For The Cool Kids:

  • Cole MacGrath, hands down. The costume is easy to make, cool looking, and the people that were too cool to dress up wont walk around calling you a fruit pop for dressing like somebody like Link (no offense against Link, of course).

    Jason Hensley

Don't Call Him Zelda:

  • I plan to dress as Link for the third year in a row.  Not only is he my favorite character, but we also have a lot in common. For instance, guessing from his taste in fashion, we both have the same favorite color. However, it is somewhat humiliating when people guess that you're Zelda.

    William Harline

Our Kind Of Excuse:

  • I'm going to be Juliet Starling from Lollipop Chainsaw. It's an excuse to carry a chainsaw, cover myself in fake blood, and dress like a cheerleader whilst still being a bad*ss.

    Tatjana Vejnovic

Sister Act:

  • I decided to go as Big Sister from BioShock 2 this year. It's an idea I've mulled over for the past few monthes and have now starting shopping for parts to build it from scratch. I just hope I can get it done before Halloween.

    Sheila Trisdale

Sibling Rivalry:

  •  For Halloween I am being Mario from Super Mario Bros. Mario is one of the gaming's best  protagonists and has had tons of fun, creative games to offer. Plus, Mario is one of America's most recognizable video gaming protagonists (besides Pac-Man).

    Ethan Frank
  • I will be dressing as Luigi from Super Mario Bros. I'd dress as Mario, but I'm not short and fat.

    Rob S

One Size Fits All:

  • I am proud to say that I will be dressing as a shirtless post-op Adam Jensen for Halloween. I'm so proud of this because I've lost 90 pounds in the past year and finally have an action hero body.

    Elliot Hamilton
  • This year I am dressing up as Kratos. I know I know, it's been done before, but I have good reason. For the majority of my life I have been overweight. I spent the last two years in a rigorous training program so as to slim down and tone up. Dressing up as Kratos this Halloween is the perfect excuse to run around half naked and show off my sexy six-pack to everyone.

Kamehamewhat?:

  • I would dress as Goku from the Dragon Ball Z series.Yes I know it's a manga and anime series, but it also has numerous games. Now all I need to do is get insanely ripped, and learn how to do a Kamehameha.

    Tyler Borden

Now That's Dedication:

  • I'm going to put on a pair of soiled boxer shorts, stand near a leaking microwave oven for an hour and go as a Feral Ghoul from Fallout.

    Karl Woods

What's The Bottom Of His Shoe Look Like?:

  • I am not very creative, nor do I have an immense amount of income to dispose of on an extravagant endeavor. That's why I decided to go with a costume that has great visual appeal and instant recognition: my Xbox 360 Avatar. Quite a handsome fellow.

    Gary V. Walters

Space Marine FTW:

  • I would definitely go as the original Doom guy. It's cheap and easy to make with a silver plastic helmet and a green jumpsuit, and to add a little flair all you need is to tear holes to look like slash marks from the cyber-demon!

    David Gutman

Who's The Boss?:

  • I am dressing up as Big Boss. I'm going with fatigues-wearing Big Boss from MGS3, not crazy, take-over-the-world Big Boss from other games. All I have left to get is a mullet wig that fully embraces the awesome locks of BB. I am a girl, but I'm going all out with fatigues, wig, and face paint to make me look more masculine. I can't wait for Halloween.

What A Joker:

  • The video game character I am going to be for Halloween is the Joker from Arkham Asylum. He is a great character because of the way he uses humor in all his murders. He has a great depth for a video game character. The fact that he can make funny nicknames for Batman makes him a pretty funny character. He would also be a good element for a Halloween costume because of all the stuff you could do as him, such as shocking people. I think he is an all-around great character.

    Jacob S.

Why So Angry?:

  • I'm going to try to get some friends to go as Angry Birds. Then, when we go trick or treating, we're not going to ring the doorbell. We are just going to sling-shot ourselves into people's houses and raid their candy.

    Kyle Piklor

Better Late Than Never:

  • If I were to go out on Halloween as a video game character, I would not go out on October 31st. I would, in fact, wait until November 31st and dress up as Slowpoke from Pokemon. It seems like a really good idea and I think people would like it. I certainly would enjoy  all the month-old candy.

  • This is not a video game character, but I dressed up as the main guy from the movie Dead Presidents. Apparently no one in my generation has seen that movie because I had to explain my costume to EVERYONE! It was pathetic the movie is awesome. C'mon 26 year olds get some culture!
  • In response to the guy that went as the joker, this is what I did on Halloween. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYiOG3Ag4Uc
  • I don't have friends, so I didn't dress up.

  • I didn't dress up. I drank and played Battlefield and ate candy. Does that count?
  • I like the last response the best.
  • Actually, the "Slowpoke" costume idea was already used in a webcomic called "Brawl in the Family" a couple years ago. I decided to go as Ness from Earthbound (and Smash Bros.) since it's a relatively easy costume to make/assemble. I did have to special order the hat though (Fangamer.net for the win!)

  • I went as a human. Im im a Cobra agent year round.

  • I had some ideas for dressing up as video game characters, but I ended up dressing as Al Capone. Still, I guess you can say I was dressed a little similarly to Mickey Cohen from L.A. Noire.
  • November 31st doesn't exist....But I love your idea =D

  • I dressed as a Waffen-SS trooper for Halloween. Does that count as a video game character? We've certainly killed enough of them in video games over the years.

I'm a World War II reenactor, so the costume was a no-brainer. Just throw on my reenacting gear and I'm set.

  • There is no Nov. 31st
  • I was Pipo...
  • Generic ninja. with 4 inch climbing claws. and double katanas. and a warning from the police.
  • If I were to dress up as something/someone, I would dress up as a Snorlax and lay down in front of some random person's door until they run out of candy. Then I'd move on to the next house and repeat the gesture. It might not be the best idea if I am trying to make friends with other Trick-or-Treaters, but a guy has to do what a guy has to do.

  • there is no november 31st...
  • I was Commander Keen!

  • Me and my brother went as Mario and Luigi. Not only did it work because we were brothers, but my younger brother is also taller and thinner than myself - so he was Luigi - while I am shorter, and - although I'm not fat - I'm bigger than he is so I went as Mario. It was awesome!
  • I was Yoshi!

  • This is sparta!

  • Lol, the slowpoke.
