If you weren't playing strategy PC games in the '90s, chances are you're most familiar with X-COM as that weird alien invasion-focused first-person shooter that BioShock 2 developer 2K Marin is working on. The pedigree for this game goes back much further and to a completely different style of gameplay. Does it still hold up today?

Please join myself, Andrew Reiner, Ben Reeves, and the newest addition to the Game Informer staff, Jason Oestreicher, in our first ever PC Replay. We look back at the original X-COM: UFO Defense and find out how long our fleshy human soldiers can last after they leave the safety of their jet.

yaaaaaay PC replays!!!!!!!! I request age of empires the first one and diablo and starcraft dungeon master ( or keeper i forget which it is ) oh joy for the PC!!!

Cool! Since we're doing PC now, I would like to request Star Wars JKII Jedi Outcast. I used to play with the console commands on that game for hours.

This was a good episode! I've never tried either of the games, but X-COM looks interesting...

Yay! Love for the PC finally! And one of my fave PC games of all time to boot. Admittedly, my first taste of this game came on the PS1 version, but I immediately went and bought it for my PC. Spent hours upon countless hours playing this game until the wee hours of the morn. Sometimes right up until I had to get up for work. lol

While it sucks that 2K Marin want to make an FPS out of the X-COM IP, Frozen Synapse is a brilliant indie game to fill the void.

Both games looked like snoozefests...I tried to watch a Let's Play of X-Com: Terror from the Deep a few months ago, and the game is just more of the same...except, under water.

Not exactly the world's greatest choice for a first PC replay, personally something along the lines of Diablo(unless you're going to do a super replay of a Diablo game in anticipation of Diablo III) would've been more entertaining, some games are not meant to be watched no matter how good the commentary is.

Also play one of the Jedi Knight Jedi Outcast Games, might cheer Reiner up some.
