Replay: Super Mario 64

Believe it or not, this week marks our 100th episode of Replay. As such, we decided that we should feature a legendary title that we haven't revisited before. I landed on Super Mario 64, Mario's first 3D adventure and the game that helped usher in 3D gaming.

Watch below to see us explore Princess Peach's castle and go toe-to-toe with Bowser. Be sure to stick around for the Roulette game, as we picked another title that most gamers have fond memories of.

  • For some reason I never got around to playing this game when I had the 64. Man, I'm regretting it now.
  • I loved Super Mario 64! I haven't liked a Mario game since though.
  • YES!!

  • Man I loved Super Mario 64! Used to spend hours playiing this and Sheadows of the Empire.

  • Good times...I remember standing in line at the local game store and getting my N64 on release day, along with Wave Race 64 and Pilotwings 64 and just being in awe of how mind blowing it all was. Easily one of my most memorable games of all time, I can still hum the music by heart even 15 years later.
  • Letsa ago!....

  • Finally played through SM64 last year (I never had a N64), and it held up even better than I thought it would, despite the dated camera. Easily the best platformer of that generation, and one of the best platformers ever. But of course, everyone here already knows that, or at least should. :P

  • Congratulations on surviving 100 Replays guys!

So after Reiner fires Dan, does that mean there will be a new job opening. ;)
  • HELL. YEAH! I still love this game even though the camera is awful. This has to be one of my top 5 games of all time.

edit: And that roulette was pure gold! Absolutely hysterical :)
  • I never really liked Mario 64. Not as much as everyone else seems to, anyway. I always thought Banjo-Kazoooie was the superior game.
Mario Galaxy, on the other hand, is possibly my favorite game of all time.
  • Here's to another 100 episodes of the best d*mn webshow on the internet!
  • I remember getting my N64 and Mario 64 for my birthday back in August of 97.  Man was that a good birthday.

  • Watching Replay is one of my favourite things about the weekend. Here's to another 100 episodes!
  • Mario games have never been as fun or compelling as Donkey Kong for me, at least. My first console was the SNES DK Country Bundle, so that may be to blame. It would be really awesome if you guys did a Replay for DK64 followed by Diddy Kong Racing, you know, like for like.

Except DKR has planes and hovercraft, too, just saying. And that DK music!

Pretty sure Bowser is King Koopa, just a bigger, fire-breathing Koopa

  • I loved this game so much growing up! I went and bought the DS version too and got all the stars in them. Its still plugged in downstairs :D
  • Mario 64 and Mario Kart were the bomb! Those were the top 2 competitive games next to goldeneye for the 64. Also, Dan is a Dick.
  • Happy 100th Replay! You picked a great game for this special event. Here's to seeing the 200th Replay one day.

Edit: This is a frame rate.
  • DK64?
