The lights are on
From Mario to Goldeneye to Zelda, the Nintendo 64 had a great variety of excellent games. One genre distinctly lacking on that platform was the RPG. This week on Replay, we take a look at Quest 64, one of the few RPGs released for the N64.
Tune in to this extra-long edition of the show to see the classic crew of Dan Ryckert, Tim Turi, Andrew Reiner, and I jump into this epic adventure. We've got dramatic voice-overs, improv singing, and a surprise Replay Roulette that very well could end up being a new fan favorite.
Did you think this episode of Replay was fun? Then you really should check out our Replay hub, which is overflowing with nearly two years' worth of past episodes for you to enjoy!
Tim Turi - undercover professional voice actor? I believe so, yes.
This was great, I'd love a super replay of this!
OMG!! I rented hybrid heaven back and the day and remember it being insane. The game becomes very interesting later on in the game. You have the do a super replay of it.
Can you please not let dan into future replays because hes annoying and impedes progress in whatever game you're playing.
THEY'RE PLAYING QUEST 64! AND I USED TO PLAY QUEST 64! OH MY GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
Hybrid Heaven was dope back in the day. I remember putting way too much time into that game trying to make combos.
Awesome replay, I really hope you guys do a super replay of Hybrid Heaven at some point in the near future.
I remember playing Quest 64, I was still fairly young and wasn't a big rpg fan back then so after a few failed tries I just used a gameshark code to give myself infinite health and 50 in every element and just powered through the game. From what little I remember, it was actually a fairly lengthy game with some interesting boss fights and cool spells/powers.
Super Replay of Hybrid Heaven, pretty please!
i remember this game, could never get past the first time
Very funny stuff guys. many lolz.
Comment expressing how I thought this replay was very funny and how I thought the Roulette was also very funny.
That was awesome! Its been forever since I've seen Hybrid Heaven, loved the game and played the heck out of it when I was a kid. Thank you for that Replay Roulette, I really hope you guys do a Super Replay of that game some day!
hes, too sexy for his shirt......LOL!!! thank you all for the replays. they always make the week better.
Another great episode.
I have to admit that I find myself skipping to the Roulette segments first in many cases-- kind of like eating dessert before dinner. I will also admit that you caused a Pepsi Spray of Laughter all over my keyboard during Hybrid Heaven. Well done.
I remember seeing Hybrid Heaven while working retail and thinking that it was going to be a bad game. I feel vindicated. It's not just a bad game-- it's legendary in its "bad"ness.
One last note, to speak on an observation that Dan made about 3DS games and loading times... many 3DS games have them. It seems weird, given the connotation that some of us "elderly" game players make between no loading times and cartridge media, but there were cartridge-based games on other platforms that also had loading time. Check out Street Fighter Alpha 2 on the SNES, for example.
Thanks to the Replay team for making my weekends even better. I've been a fan of this project from the beginning, and I hope it runs for a very long time. The setting is great; it's like having some friends over and purposely playing a bad game, just to see what everyone says.
Maybe the team can consider a "Live Replay" at some point, where Twitter or chat comments can be added to running commentary to enhance the experience. I'd be all over that.
YES. This is definitely the best Replays released in a while. Absolutely hilarious. I can't wait for a Hybrid Heaven Super Replay!
That was a hilarious replay! Tim's voice acting was brilliant and Ben's editing at the end had my dying from laughter.
can we just have a tim turi soundboard?
