As part of this month's ongoing coverage of our The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Zelda 25th anniversary, we're proud to bring you a video of three goobers talking about the end of Wind Waker in the Game Informer vault. Basically, Jeff Cork, Ben Reeves, and myself drool over the fantastic finale involving Link's sword and Ganon's,.. well, if you haven't seen it just take a few moments to watch this episode of Spoiled.

Oh, and spoilers:

Spout off in the comments below what you though of this game's climax. And if you didn't bother beating it or even picking it up to begin with, tell us why.

  • Most satisfying ending to a game ever
  • I'm sorry world but I'm not going to lie. This is the only LOZ game i have ever played. But it sure was awesome!!
  • Jeez, speaking of spoiled I nearly ruined Gears 3 ending yesterday to a buddy who hadn't played it! I came so close to telling him everyone dies in the end and Marcus is actually a Locust.

Anywho, I just finished playing Wind Waker for the third time recently. What a fantastic game. I had so much fun visiting every single island and mapping it all out so I knew which islands I should return to and which ones I had completed everything there was to do.

    And the ending? Fantastic.

(That's not the real ending to Gears 3 calm down I'm only joking!)
  • hmmmm...I thought "Spoiled" was for recent games, but still a fantastic game and good to see the ending again.
  • I remember being twelve years old when I beat this game, and this ending was pretty much the greatest thing ever to a lifelong Zelda fan. Nintendo really knows how to create epic endings between this, Ocarina, pretty much every Metroid game, and numerous others.
  • Definitly a great end to the game but I think Twilight's end was pretty good to
  • Ocarina's ending was pretty brutal too, Link starts hacking up Ganon after he callapses. It was darker, because it looked like Ganon couldn't fight back, making it more of an execution than a finnish.
  • I loved Wind Waker's ending. After the final fight with Ganondorf, shoving the sword into his head was an incredibly satisfying moment.
  • Wind Waker is in the rare pack of elite games of memorable ending's. Over time there have been many good games, but very few games I can actually remember the ending to.

I mean there is almost nothing that can be the finality of Wind Waker's ending. I don't really remember the whacky zelda time-line, but when I finished Wind Waker I felt like this WAS the end, the time of Link and Zelda had come to an end. All the generations of the Hero defeating the great evil had finally come to a close, and the Legend of the Hero would be scattered to the wind, just like Link and Zelda would be taken by the wind to their new land.

However, the one thing that bugged me is that it seems at some point they could do some strange, sword in the stone type junk where some random link in the future pulls the sword out from the statue of Ganon and return him to life.
  • I actually never saw it... BUT I'll SEE IT NOW!

EDIT: Wait... Maybe I did see it, but I vaguely remember the ending.

I think it's more brutal than OoT only because Ganon was in human form.
  • This game has an awesome ending, after the emotion of finishing Twilight Princess, I got very angry when Nintendo reused Windwakers last boss in Twilight Princess, it was cool to fight Ganon again, but Twilight Princess lacked the inovation, complexity and deepness of Windwakers story. Its awesome how despite the cartonish graphics and the E rating, it tells a more darker story than TP, but less than Majora's. Windwaker,Ocarina and Majora's will always be my favorite Zeldas.
  • Greatest Zelda game ever! ^_^
  • Link kills Ganon in the end? Wow, didn't see that coming....
  • I honestly still can believe the way Link kills Ganon. A sword to the skull. In that moment, I think Link officially became the biggest *** of all time. For that alone, Wind Waker is my favorite Zelda title of all time.

  • I cant believe so many people were turned off by the art style in Wind Waker. I feel that everything flowed so well together. The ending is one of my faves from the Zelda series.
  • Wasn't Ocarina more brutal than this? I mean we actually watched link beat the crap out of Ganon with his sword.

    *edit*

Straight to the head right after he beats him with his sword.

There is blood coming out of his skull.
  • For some reason, this game fell to the bottom of my stack when I was playing it and I never bothered to pick it back up again. So I missed the ending and am nervous about watching this video as a result. Maybe I should pick it up again, for old time's sake. Is it worth it?
  • I bet Ganondorf could have really used some Head On.
  • one of the first games i ever beat

  • Wind Waker ending, so satisfying :)
