Question Of The Month Reader Responses: Issue #222

by Jeff Marchiafava on Sep 13, 2011 at 11:12 AM

A few months ago we asked our readers what their favorite announcements were at this year's E3. The latest issue of Game Informer breaks down the love readers have for Halo 4 and Luigi's Mansion, but there was plenty more to get excited about at this year's show. Here are some more responses from your fellow gamers.

Hello, Halo:

  • What was my favorite E3 announcement? That is easy, Halo 4! Why? Halo is the best franchise ever. It has given so much to the gaming industry and it is the only reason I own an Xbox 360.

  • My favorite announcement from E3 was when 343 Industries announced Halo 4. When I heard that Bungie would no longer be producing the series, I was heartbroken. They did such a good job with the series, I wasn't ready to give it up. But when I saw the announcement for Halo 4, my heart leapt with joy. I can't wait for the game.

  • No doubt my favorite announcement at E3 was Halo 4. I don't think anyone expected it. I knew they were going to announce the Halo CE remake, but not the next Halo game following Halo 3. A new trilogy awaits!

    Toni Rules
  • I have to say that Halo 4 was my favorite. There was so much hype about the Halo CE anniversary that many people didn't even think about Halo 4, and I'm excited to continue the story of Master Chief and am curious to see what 343 will do with the series.

    Nathaniel Martinez
  • The best E3 announcement, by far, was the Halo 4 trailer. I'm a die hard Bungie Halo fan, and when they announced their retirement from the series, I didn't think I'd play anymore. Obviously, I wasn't giving Master Chief, Cortana, Arbiter, or any of the other characters the credit they're due as reason enough to keep me coming back to the series. I am super excited for the next installment and I wish 343 Industries all the best in making a game (series!) that will earn its place as another great addition to the Halo universe.

    Abi Conway
  • My favorite announcement from E3? Three words. "Wake up, John."

Not A Fan:

  • I liked how, despite expectations, Microsoft didn't settle on introducing a slew of trite Kinect titles while further milking the Halo franchise. Oh, wait...

    Jamason Finn (Xbox 360 owner)

A Smashing Good Time:

  • My favorite announcement was the confirmation of a new Super Smash Bros. game for Wii U, because the Super Smash Bros. games have probably been the most played party/fighting games amongst my friends and I for at least the past decade. Also, the attendees at Nintendo's E3 press conference seemed just as excited about that announcement as I am.

Fostering A Dark Side:

  • For me, it's hands down Darksiders 2. Watching the trailer gave me chills down my spine, and seeing your cover of issue 219 made me scream like a little girl in front of all my friends. Hearing about all the upgrades that they're making to the gameplay is making me count down the days.

Hide Your Wallet:

  • The moment where they announced Luigi's Mansion 2. I jumped up and down in my chair and screamed from excitement. Luigi's Mansion was my #1 GameCube game because I have always favored Luigi over Mario. I do not own a 3DS. I have not owned a handheld since Game Boy Color, but I will be hugging my husband with one hand and stealing his cash with the other just to get a 3DS and play this game.

    Marie Ellison

Don't Cry:

  • My favorite announcement from E3 was Far Cry 3. It was my favorite announcement because it was, in my opinion, the biggest surprise. Things like the Wii U and the Vita already had everything announced except for their name, but FC 3 was completely fresh and surprising. Also, the Far Cry series has always been a perfect blend of open-world shooting, driving, and hunting, and Ubisoft has always tried to keep it as far away from being a generic shooter like Call of Duty or Halo as possible. After watching the demo, I was blown away by how spectacular the graphics and gameplay looked. Being a big fan of the Far Cry series, I'm really looking forward to playing this game when it comes out in 2012.

A Supporting Role:

  • This year's E3 was a massive event that showed many promising titles and hardware. But my personal favorite had to be seeing the Wii U's third party support line up. With great games like this, the Wii U is shaping up to be an impressive, innovative console, just like the Wii and original DS were.

Must Resist Ricky Martin Joke...:

  • The PlayStation Vita was my favorite announcement from E3. I am a huge fan of portable gaming and the PSP was getting old, plus the 3DS doesn't have any great games yet. I cannot wait for the PlayStation Vita to finally get to stores.

    Garrett Prestage

Dial C For Creeper:

  • My favorite announcement from E3 would have to be Minecraft Mobile. I can't wait to play Minecraft on my phone!

    Randy Sautel

The 3's Have It:

  • The E3 games I am most excited for are Modern Warfare 3, Mass Effect 3, and Battlefield 3, because their story lines intrigue me, the graphics are exquisite, and they all have guns in them! I mean, what more could you ask for?

    Leroy Williams

You Had To Be There:

  • My favorite announcement from E3 2011 is Ubisoft's breakthrough in time travel technology. I'm psyched to go visit some vintage arcades from the '80s. Unfortunately, much like Wayne's World, we have to make that lame sound effect to time travel anywhere...

    Julian Elwood
