The lights are on
A month ago I started thinking about video opportunities that would be available at E3 2011. When considering what I would most like to see, the far-fetched idea of Minecraft's creator (Notch) sitting down and interviewing Bethesda's game director (Todd Howard) immediately sprang to mind. In a dark meeting room inside Bethesda's booth on the show floor, with the bass from the nearby Prey 2 demo bleeding through the walls, I set the cameras up and let the conversation flow. From Notch's love of Oblivion to Todd Howard's opinion on the greatest game ending of all time, watch the video to see these two gaming luminaries pick each others minds on the potential within their own games as well as the wider gaming landscape.
Email the author Ben Hanson, or follow on Twitter, and Game Informer.
It sort of seems like they feel awkward in the begining and then they start to have some awsome conversation. It's so cool seeing these two minds talking to each other of how they enjoyed each others games.
You know, it's ironic that Notch would interview Todd Howard, because Skyrim and the full game of Minecraft are both scheduled to be released on 11/11/11...
Mr. Hanson, that was a purely epic idea. Absolutely loved it, and I won't lie if that map doesn't come out for Minecraft I will be totally devastated.
Man, thank you GI for the best interview ever.
In testing terms, a full playthrough without using cheats or glitches to complete the game or main storyline is typically referred to as a natural playthrough or natural progression.
this was interesting...but was it just me, or did anyone else feel the akward tension in the room lol.
OMG! Finally some talk of putting mod tools on consoles! If this happend for Skyrim it would make me a very happy gamer. I should have known they were at least trying to.
Two awesome people, wish it was a bit more structured though, but i love these two guys.
I like how when he brought up kinect todd rolls his eyes and says " Im aware of that" lol
Do more of this. I would love to see more dev videos like this where they just throw ideas off each other.
This is fantastic two great video game minds come together. All just to have a friendly chat, this should be done more often.
That was fascinating! Really great idea, Ben. Such a cool meeting of the minds. It was really interesting to see how they kind of interacted with each other, and how they talked about big games in the industry. Also, you could totally tell that when Todd Howard talked about the thing where the people in the studio get together to watch a game and then talk about it, Notch was thinking, "Okay. We need to start doing that over at Mojang." :D
WEIRD AND COOL
I tried to make the imperial city in minecraft and I failed
It's kinda funny how awkward they are, but it's still awsome
Yeah notch is an android guy, also mobs on minecraft are not boring they come out of no where and scare you sh*tless especially creepers.
Also I love how they just stop interviewing and start chatting halfway through.
