Spoiled! Portal 2

It almost feels wrong highlighting the finale of Portal 2 when the entirety of the game is near perfect. Few of us in the Game Informer offices rushed to discuss the awesome climax right after beating it. Instead we chatted about memorable puzzles along the way, new gameplay mechanics, and Cave Johnson. Especially Cave Johnson. That doesn't mean that the ending of the game isn't worth spoiling for anyone silly enough not to complete it. Even if you did complete it, I present this video of Ben Reeves and I discussing what we thought about the ending in the great outdoors.

Spoiled Alert!

  • Probably my favorite setpiece in a game so far. Not quite my favorite ending (although it's definitely up there) ever, but oh man. When the roof came off and you saw the moon and Chell picks up the portal gun, I had one of those moments where you're like: "NO. There's no way that they want me to... awwwwwwwww sweet!!!!" My brain seriously failed to comprehend it at first. Plus, that was so great after Wheatley pulled out the "Part five! Booby trap the stalemate button!" business. Then, next thing you know, you're in outer-u c k ****cking-space! Oh, man. I had this massive rush of adrenaline, and I was literally shaking with excitement. It was so great. I agree, the song at the end wasn't as good as Still Alive, but I thought it was still enjoyable. It just seemed like it was more pop-oriented than Still Alive was, and - to me at least - pop music today seems to all blend together. I still enjoyed the song immensely though, I just can't really remember it. One final thing: the cube bit at the end was great. My eyes just lit up when the shack spit that out at you, and I just got really happy :)

  • What's you're favorite thing about space?... Mine is space.

  • Great Spoiled!, so glad this is still around, also I'm liking the change in scenery very nice Ben, very nice.

  • my favorite joke was "So how are you holding up... Because i am a potato"

  • i think the space and the adventure cores have the power to become memes other than that i can't really think of anyhting else then the defective turrets

  • There was a bit of a cake reference actually. The door to glados's trap before you swap her with wheatly says "Glados Emergency shutdown and cake dispenser." Leave unlocked

  • "lets go fly a kite" lol

  • I can't help but say this, Ben, but before the first fight with GLaDOS the door you try to open has "GLAdOS shut-off switch and cake dispensary written on it. Had to throw that out there.

  • I hope we get Half-life 3 before Portal 3. Or better yet, both at the same time!
  • I really enjoyed Portal 2. I didn't strike me like Portal did (I assume most people are in this boat), but it was just a really solid, fun game.

  • i liked the end it was pretty *** cool

  • we need more spoiled! :D

  • I have to get this. I played a little bit of it and was addicted. D*** you gears 3 beta!

  • Kellogs brand Wheatleys and GlaDoS brand poTaEtoEs. Part of a complete luncheon. Been waiting to say that.
  • I disagree about the song. I think they did a good job at it. It;s still suck in my head... And I don't think they tried to out do Still Alive, just hold up to what Still Alive did for the franchise.

  • In space. lol this was amazing.

  • Does Portal 2 have iconic lines that will live forever?  Yes!

"Holmes vs. Moriarty.  Aristotle vs. MASHY SPIKE PLATE!"

Also, "death option."  The monologue where Wheatley tries to convince you to go in the masher, even pointing out that there's a nice conveyor belt so you won't have to walk, is epic.

The "animal king" public service notice is pretty meme-tastic as well.

Also, when GLAD0S calls Chell "You dangerous, mute lunatic," I thought that one was memorable too.

  • Wait,so the Aperture Science facility is inside the bunker from Pineapple Express?

Oh,and the little yellow-eyed bot reminds me of GIR from Invader Zim.

  • Well i have one question what ever happened to the vaccum things (forgot what theyre called please tell me thanks)
  • Shut up! im not crying its just water from my eyes ...NOT TEARS!
