The lights are on
What started out as a simple interview about a studio evolved into this: an hour-long documentary about the 18-year history of Volition, Inc. The studio provided an unprecedented amount of never-before-seen concept art and early footage of their great games, even from a couple that were canceled before their release. The video covers a lot of ground, so we divided it into four parts so that you can jump right in and learn the story behind your favorite Volition games. We recommend starting from the beginning to get a full look at not only the history of Volition, but how far the gaming industry has come in 18 short years. Let us know what you think, and thanks for watching.

Ben Hanson this is *** amazing! GOOD WORK! Silence everyone please...
*starts slow clap*
*applause* Seriously though. That is amazing. Ben, you are one f*cking gifted dude. Kudos on the awesome documentary film
Amasing work here Ben and Jeff. It was great to see the inner workings of Volition, and how this company, along with its games evolved. Amasing job!
Watching all of these right now. The quality of these are so great I feel like I'm stealing because this is stuff I would go to the store and pay for. Same thing with the Todd Howard interview you guys did last month.
Thanks for this and keep up the great work.
Oh Descent was them? I had a little fun with that at the time. There are like no games like that these days. Or like Tie Fighter. I spent a crap load of time on Tie Fighter.
Very excellent work
Thank you Very much Ben and Jeff you guys are awesome. This is the kind of respect I love seeing in the video game world. I feel like when I come to gameinformer I’m am respect as being a gamer and not like an outcast or reminded of being a nerd. I pray Ben you do more videos like this please this was so awesome. Thanks guys
Bravo, Ben Hanson. Amazing video. I learned a ton, and I'm looking forward to Saints Row The Third even more.
Wow Ben you rock and so do these guys! I love Red Faction, and Saints Row. While I didn't give RF:G a chance, or SR2 I can't wait to see the next in the series escp. SR3. Saints Row > GTA
very nice
That Rocked. I wouldn't hate to see more feature stuff like this.
outstanding work Hanson!
Kudos to Ben H., excellent work. Nice touch with the 2nd movement from Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in the background during the Saint's Row game footage (lends that air of *gravitas* to the proceedings) ;-)
Also kudos to Volition for doing these interviews. I already thought they were one of the better game developers out there (and some of the most 'out there' developers, willing to try the crazy s...tuff in Saint's Row). It's cool that they stayed in Champaign, Illinois; I think it helps them keep their unique identity. It'll be interesting to see what comes of "inSANE" (the project with Guillermo del Toro).
My favorite quote (from the last clip, about Red Faction: Guerrilla):
"What is this game about? It's about blowing stuff up. And it's about blowing stuff up in ways you've never seen before...but you've always known you wanted to do."
Wow, I got to hand it to you GI, this is like a real documentary. Congrats to Ben, Jeff, and Volition!
This was great. Learned a lot about Volition and gained some respect for them.
