Spoiled! Red Dead Redemption

Did you beat Red Dead Redemption? Did you mean to but just couldn't do it? Did you skip the game but still want to see and hear what all the fuss is about? Well, the ending of the game was unforgettable and should be seen by everyone, so Game Informer is pleased to completely spoil it for you. Join Matt Bertz and myself as we check out video from the unforgettable scene and provide our personal reactions. If you already beat this Western, come along for a closer revisiting of the surprising turn of events. Spoilers ahead!

Here's some additional set up for the spoiled ending of Red Dead Redemption. Again... spoilers!:

After abiding by the FBI's wishes and eliminating his past gang buddies, John Marston is reunited with his wife and child on the family ranch. A tragic turn inevitably ruins what you're lead to believe is a happy ending in which Marston bonds with son, wife, and comical uncle.

There's a bonus treat for careful viewers, too. If you squint a little you can see I grew a handsome cowboy mustache for the occasion.

  • I like this feature!

I think next on the list should be God of War 3. I'd like to know what the general reaction was to it.

  • OMG THEY KILLED HIM!

  • I've been wondering since I beat the game, is it possoble to shoot Edgar Ross?

  • great game, horrible ending; oh, yeah, im just going to walk out of this barn and get mowed down, not, say throw some of these sticks of dynamite that im carrying around, yeah, sure, go ahead, also stupid that jack is a playable character, although the way jack screams "oh my god, they killed him!" never fails to crack me up. horrible voice acting, just a horrible ending in general, good game though

  • Please do more of these!!

  • unfortunately i saw the ending comin during the mexico adventures

  • I don't think it's unfortunate if you started to be able to guess the ending to the game; it's an homage to Western films, and as those films pretty much dictate, Marston HAD TO DIE when he did. And yes, the ranching quests are intended to be foreboding/foreshadowing. If you picked up on those pieces, it means you're observant, not that the fiction was failing.

If you hated the ending, then you don't get it, and your parents probably shouldn't let you play games with so much gun violence.

  • The ending was easily the best i have ever seen in any game, easily the most attached i have ever been to a video game character.

  • Assassins Creed 1.

Bur yeah the ending to this left me very shocked. But i think about it i appriechiate it. No Jack isnt as cool as John but hes grown on me. And the final ending (with jack) was very satisfying. It felt so awesome watching Ross die.

  • I think you guys should do Heavy Rain, Bioshock, God of War III, and MGS4. I really enjoyed this segment, and I'g love to hear your thoughts on these games.

  • Yeah, the endings from a lot of Rockstar games recently seem to eschew the "fairy tale" ending, and that's a good and bad thing. Also, the end to this game kinda reminded me of Ghosts n Goblins, on a much, much smaller scale.

    Hey, look, triple posting.

  • I think a fitting game to do the next edition of spoiled would be Heavy Rain.

  • Great job guys, keep up the great work!! Sometime you guys should do the Borderlands ending, it was so terrible, all the build-up for the Vault only to see it be destroyed by non other than The Destroyer. To Tim, maybe you could have different facial hair for every one of these.

  • That was actually a pretty good show. I look forward to seeing another one. Bioshock, knights of the old Republic, Metal Gear Solid, would all be cool to watch. Nice show GI

  • i knew that as soon as he opened those doors he was dead but i headshotted everyone i could in that last moment.

  • Nice job with the mustache my friend.

  • The ending for this (though I could see it coming), hit me hard. The atmosphere was what probably did it. It was raining when I did it, and I thought that was how it was supposed to be, but this video showed otherwise. I guess I got lucky in a cinematic way.

  • The story was the most engaging component of the game so I didn't bother too much with the extra content till the end of the game.  Unfortunately that meant unlocking several achievements with Jack... ugh.  That voice still aggravates me.  The voice actor did a great job with the character he was given, but I just hated the character and his whining.  Playing through the epilogue and achievements as Jack ruined the game for me.  Wish I had waited to end the game and spent more time with John.

Did anyone else worry they screwed up the dead eye during the last scene?  I kept hoping I did so I didn't have to play as Jack.  Lol.

  • Kudos on the new segment.  Definately in favor of more!  How about Halo 2... joking.  How could you spoil a game with no ending?  In all seriousness, I'd love a combination of Spoiled and Replay with Final Fantasy VI.
