The lights are on
Odds are, you have never heard of this game. If you haven't, this Replay is for you. Rising Zan: Samurai Gunman was released in 1999 for the PSone, and to this day is one of the most ridiculous games ever made.
You play as Zan (formerly Johnny, now "Johnny No More"), an American cowboy who travels east to learn the way of the samurai. When he returns to the west, he uses his newfound skills to murder ninjas, Russian nesting dolls, sumo wrestlers, and evil crucifixes made of hay. Watch below as myself, Tim Turi, Andrew Reiner, and Bryan Vore play through this brilliantly absurd title. And just try to get the unbelievable theme song out of your head.

ah, the girlish giggling of GI editors always puts a smile on my face. also, Werewolf for NES.
Do a really awesome game like Final Fantasy Tactics, or Vectorman.
I honestly don't know what to say to that replay roulette. Holy crap.
haha i would absolutely play a a new rising zan! this game is brilliant
haha wow, that was ridiculous
ROFLcopter. I totally agree more games need that move. I would love to see more odd games like this in replay. You guys should consider doing Vectorman or toejam and earl.
Oh, I DO remember this game. I first heard about it years ago in an old issue of Tips & Tricks, which had this neat piece of art of Johnny No More slicing this ninja in two, with the ninja's torso gushing blood.
Also....best fake Bon Jovi song EVER.
....Oh, and those round red things are called Darumas. They're a traditional japanese wooden doll.
I want Rising Zan now...that looked amazing!
south park reference at 23:55. priceless
I definitely agree release this game on PSN it looks like a decent and fun time...
I'd buy a new Rising Zan
For anyone interested in playing this game, I bought it last week for 99 cents on eBay. Check there or Amazon and you can usually find it cheap.
Rising Zan looks awesome and I think there IS a game that matches its wackiness on current consoles. It reminds me a lot of MadWorld for the Wii. Just not as bloody or black and whitey. If you remember, Push Man was also in that game.
Makes you wonder why we ever put up with the bat-s*** insane concepts of Japanese entertainment.
AHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That Spice Girls made me laugh worse than what I wrote. The burglar-perv dude with a british acent and an awkward Jimmy Neutron character made me laugh my butt off. "If you wanna be my lover" X 60
Rising Zan XBL Remake plz!
(As soon as I get my copy of 8-bit Starcraft.)
you should definetly do banjo kazooie
Rising Zan seems to be some kind of precursor to No More Heroes, though I think it takes itself more seriously. Meanwhile, Spice World was just frightening. Why does Baby Spice look like a deranged mustached goth girl in a pink outfit and platforms?
