Atari Death Coming Soon?

tari's been treading rough waters for quite sometime now, and while posting their first quarter financials showing the publisher taking a $11.9 million loss for the period with revenues of $10.42 million, executives noted in their filing that Atari is even weary that they can even survive as a company.

"The uncertainty by these above conditions raises substantial doubt about their ability to continue as a growing concern."

This comes after Atari has repeatedly sold off properties, laid off employees, changed their board of directors, fought for the Dragon Ball Z license, and more. Recently the company began looking for new funding opportunities when a change of existing credit increased, however executives don't believe it will be sufficient enough to sustain Atari through this holiday season.

The company just released The Witcher and Neverwinter Nights expansion, Mask of the Betrayer for the PC. With adding more layoffs and trying to save more cash, what could this mean for upcoming titles such as Alone in the Dark? Is Atari desperate enough to sell of their Dungeons & Dragons license and Alone in the Dark and Test Drive Unlimited developer Eden Games? Could be...

We'll keep you posted.
