bisoft today announced that it’s developing games based on the television shows Heroes and Lost.
Lost is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms and is scheduled for a first-quarter 2008 release. The game puts players on the doomed Oceanic flight 815 and follows them as they try to survive on the mysterious island. Players will get to interact with characters from the show and visit familiar places while solving puzzles and working toward rescue.
"Ubisoft is thrilled to be collaborating with ABC to develop this phenomenal television series into an interactive experience,” said Helene Juguet, senior director of marketing for Ubisoft. "Ubisoft has worked closely with ABC Studios and the show's producers to create a compelling storyline that has the same mystery, adventure and intensity fans of the show have come to expect from the 'Lost' brand.”
"The sense of adventure and suspense that we strive for in the show is also captured in the Lost video game," said Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse, executive producers of the Lost television series. "Ubisoft has done a fantastic job and come up with a game that is visually amazing and imaginative both on its own and as an extension of the world of the show."
Ubisoft also recently signed a licensing agreement with Universal Pictures to develop a game based on Heroes. At this point, not much is known about the title, including platforms or a release estimate.
"With a gripping storyline and rich characters, Heroes lends itself naturally to a video game format,” said Christian Salomon, vice president of worldwide licensing at Ubisoft. "By offering people the chance to interact directly with the show's captivating universe, there is no doubt that the game will appeal to both fans of the series and avid gamers.”
