n Tuesday October 17th at midnight Pacific Time both Xbox Live and Xbox.com will be coming down for scheduled maintenance.  The period both services will be down could be up to a 24 hours.

According to a QA on Xbox.com the reason for the downtime is, "Because we're adding some cool stuff. And we have to take the service and website offline in order to do it. We're not doing it to make you mad … really."

For the first hour or two that Xbox Live and Xbox.com are down users trying to utilize either will get error messages.  Later the message will change to a maintenance message.  What's the cool new stuff they are adding?  That's a good question.  We'll let you know when everything comes back up on the 18th.
