eeks after it was announced that he would be the first recipient of the Pioneer Award at this year’s Game Developers Conference, Ralph Baer has picked up another award for his notable work within the games industry. Baer, commonly known as the “Father of video games,” will be receiving the 2008 IEEE Masaru Ibuka Consumer Electronics Award for his pioneering work that started with TV gaming in 1966, and led to the creation of popular toys such as SIMON, Computer Perfection and Laser Command. The award will be officially presented in Las Vegas on Jan. 12.
