Sony Store’s Security Compromised, Restored

e’er-do-wells recently gained access to users’ personal information via the PlayStation Network, allowing them to make unauthorized charges on the PlayStation Store and view private information. As a final slap in the face, passwords were changed, too, prohibiting legitimate users from
logging on. On the bright side for those affected users, PSN accounts don’t store entire credit-card numbers, which the company said makes the risk of more widespread identity theft “very unlikely.” Not sure if yours was one of the affected accounts? Sony says the best way to check is to simply sign into the service with your pre-existing password. If you can, you’re golden. The company also said it is in the process of contacting affected users individually.
