News Nightcap: Velvet Assassin Details and Bionic Commando Comic

n the daily grind, it is inevitable that some stories slip through the cracks in favor of breaking news. The news nightcap makes sure you have a second chance to catch all the tasty tidbits from today.

Enki Bilal’s Graphic Novels Come To Life
Got Game Entertainment brought to light their plans to translate famed graphic novelist Enki Bilal’s work to life. Adapted from Bilal’s graphic novel series the Nikopol Trilogy and the film release Immortal, Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals will bring Bilal’s work to the interactive realm in a point and click adventure game for the PC. The game is scheduled to release in August of this year, and will retail for $29.99.

“Nikopol: Secrets of the Immortals” opens in the Paris of 2023, now ruled by a power-hungry dictator, a place where the fascist rich and the abandoned poor are separated by both a literal and figurative wall. As we join our hero Nikopol, the son of an astronaut frozen in space decades ago, we find that a floating pyramid inhabited by Egyptian Gods hovers above the city. As one of their leaders plots to take control of Paris and its people, word reaches Nikopol that his father may be alive and hidden in the city's underground, a possible pawn in a looming battle. In the search for his father, Nikopol's journey finds him entangled in political intrigue, caught between two worlds, one of anarchy and one of immortality.

Agetec Announces new RPG Aimed At Youth
Agetec Inc. recently released details about one of their upcoming projects, Falling Stars for the PlayStation 2. The new RPG will be released early summer 2008 and is in development with youth in mind. In Falling Stars players will take on the role of Luna, a young girl on a mission to save her uncle from a mine that has somehow developed possessive powers over him. Her uncle Matt starts to take village pets into the unusual mine, and as a result they become monsters. Luna looks for a solution before her peaceful village – Dazzleon – is destroyed for good.

“The best part about this game is not only does it have the usual RPG elements: intriguing storyline, quests, missions, battles, and so forth, but it gives you an opportunity to be creative and customize Luna’s attire,” says Ivolgamus. “The dress-up portion is what really makes the game stand out; not only can you dress Luna to your liking, but what you wear will also affect how neighbors will treat you. If neighbors like the way you dress, they will start offering you missions, quests, mini-games – they’ll even offer you better prices and trades; however, if they don’t like the way you dress, they might not even talk to you!”

Falling Stars is rated “E” for everyone.

Velvet Assassin Slated For Fall
Gamecock Media announced today more details about their stealth-action title Velvet Assassin. In development for the Xbox 360 and the PC, Velvet Assassin is expected to come out this fall. Developed by replay studios, the title takes place in World War II and is inspired by the real life events of Violette Szabo.

“This is a project we’ve been incredibly excited about from the start,” said Sascha Jungnickel, Creative Director at Replay Studios. “Velvet Assassin is going to be an amazing experience both in its visual style and gameplay, it will be awesome to get it to such a massive audience.”

Bionic Commando And Lost Planet Enter The Comic Universe
A new partnership between Capcom and comic book publisher Devils Due will result in two new comic entities later this year. The duo announced plans to convert Bionic Commando and Lost Planet to the paper medium, with more titles to be announced during San Diego Comic Con later this year.

"DDP is very excited to be joining forces with Capcom," said DDP President Josh Blaylock. "Not only are these awesome games, but they have great stories behind them ripe for comics, including a vintage classic with Bionic Commando that's been revived along with the new sequel."
