GC 2006: Psi-Ops Sequel Not Likely, Team Focused On Making Stranglehold A Franchise

uring the German Games Convention today we met with Stranglehold Senior Producer Alexander Offerman and asked him if Midway was thinking about a Psi-Ops sequel.  While he admitted that he'd never say "never" the chances for a Psi-Ops sequel is "not likely."  Offermann did say that a Wii version would be fun with the potenial of the Wii remote, but nothing is currently planned.

For now, the Psi-Ops team is focusing their efforts on completing Stranglehold, and while the game slipped from 2006 until 2007, Offermann stated that the reason for the delay was to polish the game and tweak a number of gameplay elements.

"We wanted to make sure it got done.  We want this [Stranglehold] to become a franchise, and we don't want to ruin it." explained Offermann.  Right now the team is tweaking the vehicles, networking, mexican standoff mini-games, physics, and numerous little details.

Stranglehold will be released in early 2007.
