raveller’s Tales – the team behind the lucrative Lego video game franchise – recently revealed details about a 20-minute long Lego Batman cartoon that is in the works.
Rich Earl – Producer at Traveller’s Tales – spoke to GamesIndustry.biz last week during the convention at Leipzig and confirmed that a TV show based on the Lego Batman project is currently in production. He clarified that Traveller’s Tales has no involvement with the show and that it is being done by an entirely different studio in the United States.
Using the same engine and assets from the upcoming game, the series will start as a short pilot, specifically a 20-minute Lego Batman preview.
“My understanding is that they will use the engine,” Earl told GamesIndustry.biz, “the Maya files where the characters come to life, but they'll be creating animated... I think it's a 20-minute cartoon. I'm personally quite intrigued to see how it comes out. Lego, every time they've had a new brand out, they've done some CGI stuff as well, but I think this will be quite different.”
