Jimi Hendrix Coming To Guitar Hero World Tour

ate singer/guitarist and all around cool cat Jimi Hendrix will be making his video game debut in Guitar Hero World Tour. Activision announced today that Hendrix will not only have his iconic music shipped with World Tour, but will be featured as a playable character as well. Master tracks of “The Wind Cries Mary” and “Purple Haze” will be included at launch, and additional exclusive songs from Hendrix will follow as downloadable content. While this is not the first time Hendrix’s tunes have been used in a Guitar Hero title – the original Guitar Hero featured the song “Spanish Castle Magic” – this is the first time he will be a playable character.

“Guitar Hero games have become the virtual rock stage for the industry’s most beloved artists and Guitar Hero World Tour continues that tradition by honoring the great Jimi Hendrix and celebrating some of his greatest work,” said Tim Riley, Vice President of Music Affairs for Activision Blizzard. “His presence in the game will serve to satisfy multiple generations of his fans and Guitar Hero devotees, as well as create new fans by reintroducing his genre-defining guitar style through the unique Guitar Hero experience.”
