t is true – blockbuster game announcements and industry mega-mergers sometimes take the spotlight in the daily news cycle. But don’t fret – the news nightcap makes all sure all the important info gets a chance in the limelight.

Burnout Paradise Patch Patched
Not long back Criterion pulled their anticipated Bogart patch for Burnout Paradise, which was intended to fix a plethora of problems with the high-speed title. Instead, the patch caused framerate problems on the Xbox 360. Criterion submitted the patch to Microsoft late April, and as of today it is up and running once more. The patch will automatically download when loading Burnout next. Now that the patch is officially patched, we can look forward to new Burnout Paradise content in the near future.

Activision Announces Pitfall: The Big Adventure
Activision plans on bringing a franchise with more than 10 million titles sold to date to the Nintendo Wii this fall. Pitfall: The Big Adventure will introduce the Pitfall IP to a whole new generation of gamers. Set in the Peruvian jungle, Pitfall will combine the traditional elements of reptile dodging and vine swinging with quirky puzzles. Harry will have to traverse over 60 levels using the Wii motion sensing controls.

"Pitfall is one of the most legendary franchises in the history of videogames, so we look forward to releasing a new version exclusively for Wii," said Dave Oxford, Activision Publishing. "What could be more fun than using the Wii Remote to swing on a vine over blood thirsty crocodiles as retro-cool Pitfall Harry?!"

"Wii is a natural and perfect fit for a Pitfall game, and it's been fantastic to revolutionize this classic franchise through the application of the innovative Wii game mechanics. It's a completely new experience for the gamer," said Binu Philip, President, Edge of Reality.
